eBay to extend item not received claim times

I've been personally affected by this in both ways buying and selling. However I ask that eBay atleast have a reminder when someone opens an eBay not received claim that all shipping is delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic. And maybe give extra time to buyers to have their package delivered before stepping in.

If you agree please help eBay see this.

eBay to extend item not received claim times

I sold an item and shipped it promptly; destination was Katy Texas.  It was last tracked at the distribution facility nearby.    I sent the buyer a replacement, then the buyer filed a Paypal claim; did not file an eBay claim.    Paypal took my funds, eBay did nothing.  Buyer managed to keep the $$$ from the Paypal claim.  She filed through her bank.  I will mention buyer was a zero feedback new user.    I did report to eBay as a problem with a buyer.  These users should be deleted, but I guess they would just open a new account.

I check the tracking on my items continually, but I am not a big volume seller, just sell to de-clutter.    This was the first issue I had of being lost.

I've suggested this very thing to ebay many times in the last month.  I've had 4 buyers open claims due to late shipping and they all received refunds. 2 of them ended up still receiving the items after refund.  Ebay was LESS than concerned about my losses.  They suggested I put extended delivery times of 30+ days on my listings to avoid problems.

I am sure it is not lost. USPS delays have been getting progressively worse every week. Media mail especially has been taking up to 30 days and that is after I open lost package search requests when they finally start digging around and finding it then pulling the items from the bins they have been sitting in for weeks and getting them back in the system. USPS has never LOST a package of mine and I shipped over 5,000 packages with them all over the world.  I agree 100% with the OP that EBAY NEEDS TO STEP UP and start addressing this for us sellers! It is complete disregard for their "PARTNERS" to continue to turn a blind eye to this.

I agree.  I am a Canadian seller and experience buyers opening claims and getting refunds right away.  It would be nice if eBay had a message saying there is delays and a buyer cannot open a claim until after a certain amount time as passed for the consideration of the delays.

eBay please look into this for sellers.

I agree.  Sellers are not considered, but the buyers are always protected.  USPS states the package is still not recovered; I filed a missing package claim.    It is a racket with buyers in which they get a refund or a replacement and still keep the $$$ from their claims.

With Covid, I have had several issues with INR cases.  I have not had to refund anyone.

First, I look at tracking and see what is going on.  Then I send the buyer a very appologetic message explaining what is happening and that delays are common place right now.  I inform them that I will be contacting USPS.  I ask them very kindly to please be patient. --  Most of my buyers have been understanding and just need some reassurance that the item is on the way and I am trying to help.

I then immediately go to USPS.com and open an item search.  In every case this has got the item delivered within 5 days of the request.

USPS is short handed, many places are.  I am also trying to be patient on my end but, a little nudge is needed sometimes.

Not all shipping is delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic... I find that some Sellers are using that to ship when ever they feel like it, And If you would just get scans at drop off it would help. When Buyers see a tracking number not working or even scanned dropped off or picked up. It doesn't help. I am in Texas and yes there is a little slow down  Economy shipping . But First class and Priority have been moving just fine.. Unless they don't get scanned at pick up. I have a few packages coming in. 1 priority mail Not scanning at all . Was never scanned at drop off Due Yesterday... I had a First class out of Dallas due 2 days ago. Just scanned shipped today... And I have 2, I have already been refunded , Never to be heard from again from last week.... All I am hearing" Its the Virus It's the Virus". I am a seller as well and Funny how all my packages are being scanned and shipped on time and delivered. Some even early.. And I am In TEXAS

This is what I have been doing also. I have even opened a 2nd claim 2x which escalated the USPS finding the package and getting it back in the mail stream.

I do this too.  All but one of my buyers was willing to work with me so that is pretty good since I've had a high volume of these the last couple of months.

I too go and open a trace on the package at USPS.com.  I do that before I even respond to the email from my buyer or claim they filed if they felt the need.  Then I keep them updated.

Ebay doesn't usually close out an INR automatically unless there has been more than 10 days without movement on the tracking.  If it moves, the day count starts over.  At least this has been my experience.

I do think however that Ebay should extend this time a bit.  Maybe to 15 days would be helpful.  I know that would be hard on some buyers, but I think they would understand due to our current conditions.

Nonsense, I went to my post office today and there was no one inside. I had to drive to another post office where I was told to place the packages in a bin. Speak for yourself.

I spoke to 2 USPS reps over the phone yesterday, they both confirmed the same thing, all shipments are subject to delays right now. One also stated the postal service is prioritizing certain shipments for the time being; such as for medications and deliveries to hospitals.

Anything deemed non essential is seeing delays. Both told me not to use media mail right now. Which is a huge headache because I mostly sell media related items. I can't afford to pay $5 to ship a $5 movie. I may extend my handling time to 10 days if goes that far.

I called them because I have too many orders missing in action. They're working to try and find them now, some they did find and got back on track.

That is fantastic for you that your items are moving.  I however have not had the same experience... I ship out next day at every possible chance and I still have items that get stuck... even in Texas.  I just had a first class item in sit for 6 days in the Irving Texas Distribution center.

So, yes you may be correct, some sellers are also effected by the virus, where they do not have the staff to get items processed as quickly, however, even ones like myself who ship immediately are having issues.

Now it is being delayed as no 2nd runs are allowed to prevent overtime. So if the PO vehicle is totally filled with Amazon boxes forget Ebay sellers as the mailman is not allowed to return and pick up more items
