When did this start? Click on your listing and now, BEFORE your item specifics or description is a gallery of other seller's similar Sponsored listings!!?? This is in addition to even more below your description. A sea of other people's listings within your own listing!!???
It is so crowded it is tough to distinguish what stuff belongs to your own listing you are trying to view and what is not. It isn't clear to the buyer. It causes confusion to the buyer. They may click off your listing because they think what they are seeing it is part of it or are other listings you have (but are not)?
I am NOT happy with this.
eBay please stop pushing other peoples stuff within MY listing, especially up front and in your face before you can even get to my listing details.

When I'm buying, I always read sellers' descriptions. It is often really hard to find them. When I am doing a basic ebay search, I skip right over the promoted or sponsored listings and never go to their pages. So it really bugs me to find them cluttering up the page I actually choose to look at. Also, I usually search for obscure items rather than commodity items, so there are few similar listings and they just show me completely unrelated items. Ebay is becoming such a time waster.

Agree 100%
No one elses listing should be "in" your listing.
I found this when looking for an item.
I cant imagine looking at listings on a phone. No wonder buyers dont read the sellers descriptions, its after every others sellers photos.

It might show someone with a lower price than your item listed that is the exact same thing. I see other people's listings with mine of the same item. I will use it to lower my price vs. the other seller's price. Some seller's prices are way too high vs. mine. It could also get buyer's to look at my other stuff as well. I actually like it.

The flip side is, looking at the other same listings, they might see yours.
I have to agree, if I am looking at a listing, I want to see the one I am looking at. Not a bazillion others that might not even be the same thing I am looking at anyway.
If I want to do a search for lower prices, don't need eBay to show them to me, I can do that in the drop down menu.

When did this start?
Quite a while ago. What has recently changed is you now see what buyers see. Before this, probably because eBay figured you weren't going to buy your own item, eBay did not show these rows to you. ...you saw them when looking at other people's items, but not your own.
Why the change? I'm guessing because eBay now figures what the heck, maybe you will buy something while looking at your own item.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques I just started seeing this today in my own listings - one row of 'Related Sponsored Items' before my description, then after my description the many rows of other people's stuff. Here's the thing, it's not that way on every one of my listings - one has this new row, another doesn't.

It's not like we pay eBay fees and commissions for our listing as well as extra fees for those with a store 🙄.
Can't wait for the next eBay update, how much will it cost to not show Ads within our actual listing? 🙄
eBay, why don't you insert a Picture AD in the middle and end of our listing pictures? Unfortunately, I will not be the least bit surprised when it happens... 🙄

Now hush! Don't give them any more ideas. 😧

It may drive buyers away in confusion and disgust. Nobody likes to feel manipulated.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is nothing any of us can do except complain. The Corporate bean counters will squeeze every penny out of this platform for their shareholders without regards to what anyone thinks. Right now, their tweak's have increased revenues for the Company so expect more of the same.

@mandicrafts as others here have said, eBay has actually been displaying ads above descriptions for many years - they've just recently started showing it when you view your own listings while logged in as well.
eBay announced in March that they are redesigning the View Item page and explicitly said they were going to move the IS and description above any modules with other items or ads.
Here are some of the key highlights of what you can expect:
Larger images
Increased prominence of the seller information.
Bring critical information like Item specifics and seller description higher up on the page before any modules that show other items & ads.
Improve the hierarchy of the page, so we show the most important information in the right order.
However, now that they are starting to roll it out, it's obvious that message either wasn't communicated to the product teams involved or that eBay has simply decided to renege on that particular point.
I've been trying to get clarification on that in this thread, but so far there has been no answer.

There should be zero promotion of anybody else's items on a seller's page. ZERO. Just my opinion.

A big time waster for both sellers and buyers.
