NEW Listing page layout! Thumbs UP!

Just saw the NEW Listing page layout show up on my account ... ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I zoomed out to get more of it on one screen just as an overall shot of it.  Very large main item pic, details to purchase & Seller info over on the right.

@valueaddedresource   Correction here as @my-cottage-books-and-antiques pointed out ... my OP pic is for a Sold item and yours is for an Active item ... so the sponsored listings are still breaking up an Active listing between main pic and Seller info section and Item specifics ... while I simply scroll past those I am sure in some instances Sellers lose sales because of a sponsored listing appearing IN their Active listing.  I do NOT think a Seller's listing should be broken up since they created it and technically "own" the space within their Active listing ... eBay can put sponsored listings above and below BUT the main listing should be complete as shown on the Sold item I pictured ...

Thanks for the clarification @mr_lincoln !

I definitely agree with you that the main pic and IS/description should not be broken up PL ads.

That was the main point sellers cheered when it was explicitly noted in the announcement about this test and it would be very disappointing to see eBay go back on that now.

Hold the cheers!

The last three updates that hit me caused zero sales for 7-10 days.

The latest was May 16th, 2023

Re: NEW Listing page layout! Thumbs UP!

i agree full heartedly with EVERYONE lol- EBAY should not proceed with this layout if the promoted listings break up the actually listing. Seems like common sense but when you interject ads and competing product pics in between the pictures and the description that the potential buyer already indicating they want to see and buy, it is insulting the sellers (customers) and buyers (customers) that use ebay!!!

Ebay already touted that this new design will be easier to navigate and NOT break up the sellers listing into little parts and pieces like it was b4....... what happened ebay- you had a great idea that would actually increase conversion and sales and now you went and screwed it up with Promoted Listings again.

An actually good idea that would improve sales and help the platform but they just could not let go of the cash cow PL that are undermining the platform- free quick short term money is just too hard to give up for actual long term platform growth i guess.

Hey @my-cottage-books-and-antiques! I know that the team working on this is still testing layouts for desktop users.

devon@ebay why would the team be testing *any* layouts that still include ads between the main picture and the IS/description?

It was clearly stated under "key highlights of what you can expect" in the announcement that the design will:

Seems like a waste of time and resources to be running tests which include design elements that are not supposed to be in the final product....unless eBay doesn't plan on sticking to that point?

Re: NEW Listing page layout! Thumbs UP!

So, I'm not sure why but on my listings the first section is great, which shows images price, shipping, etc.  However, middle part is all sponsored ads, and my listing description is drop to the very bottom.  Some buyers don't bother reading description, but to drop it to the bottom is a disaster for sellers.

I've posted a sample image from one of my listings.  However, its happening to all of my listings.  Sorry, if the image is small, but I had to fit the whole page onto one image.

Now the images are huge and you can't see hardly anything on the screen. EVERY time eBay "improves" something, it gets worse. Could they just leave it alone for awhile?

I guess there is no way to get back to a reasonable image size?

My main picture is floating and moves to the top of the promoted items.  2 Lines of promoted before the item's description.  I can live with them completely under my listing.

Why can't I just see what I want instead of all the similar items cluttering up the display?

@krazzykats   I agree ... Sellers PAY for their Listing space, PERIOD.   A listing should be uninterrupted, it reflects the work of the Seller.  Sponsored listings can be on the sides, top and bottom BUT NOT IN THE MIDDLE!!!!

Its "two lines" now but since Sellers have no control it will at some point be 3 if eBay thinks they can sell more items that way.  I have always been disgusted with them putting ADs right in the middle of my listings.

I don't EVER recall seeing a Ford truck commercial and right in the middle of it the channel shows Chevy and Dodge Ram ads ... if they did FORD would be livid and a litigation would follow, right?!?

This is an afront to Sellers pure and simple.  And here's the "DUH!!" of the whole thing, a Buyer clicked on the specific listing to SEE IT in it's entirety because they might want to purchase or bid ... WHY interrupt their "buying experience" ?????

This does NOT help the Seller - author of the listing ...

yeah... been through all this for what seems forever now on these boards about listing real estste used for sponsored listings...and since that time the space and amount used for those sponsored adds have tripled, which tells you ebay has no plans to decrease or eliminate them from listings. All sellers agree there is far too much, and everyone knows they want to be like amazon listings for PL's.

@ezmonsterdeals   Exactly ... it's almost like eBay wants buyers to "think" those inserted AD s are from the same Seller, right?  At first glance that is the conclusion I would draw ... it's sneaky to be honest and completely unfair to Sellers putting AD s right in the middle of their listing.

they use to be, that first row, use to be all items from same seller, they changed that while back. They still can be, majority of the sellers stuff, but depends on how many listings in the same category seller has Promoted and cross referenced with keywords in title

devon@ebay  kyle@ebay elizabeth@ebay adsteam@ebay  - any update on this?

The announcement could not have been any more clear about the expectations eBay was setting for this new design and very specifically and explicitly said the IS and description would be moved above any modules with ads or other items.

If eBay's intentions have changed since this announcement, the absolute bare minimum sellers deserve is a straight forward, honest and transparent statement to that effect - though an honest explanation and earnestly listening to seller feedback on this matter would certainly not go amiss either.

@valueaddedresource   THANK YOU for pointing out what eBay said in their statement.  I know this will be a topic for this month's Mentor meeting for sure.  However, from a site design standpoint I can understand that the current layout format has the ads in the middle of the listing form so the "test" layouts will most likely follow that format until THE layout is selected and finalized.  Then they can systematically rollout the new page layout on the entire site in batches.   It would be nice if one of you would verify that the above approximates what eBay is doing on the page redesign devon@ebay  kyle@ebay elizabeth@ebay adsteam@ebay

Thanks!
