I've been trying to wrap my mind around why eBay shifted from offering the option of 30 day listings for fixed price, to now only offering Good Til Closed.
The listing pages will give you an explanation of "To give our sellers a better chance to blah blah blah blah" but to be honest, I can only see one reason for this change: It gives eBay the chance to either collect more listing fees or to eat away at a subscriber's listing quotas.
I have between 950 and 1050 listings per month. And yes, a lot of them were already GTC because that is what I chose for them knowing that I would eventually receive more stock. But I have an enormous amount of listings that are one of a kind items. So now, even after they sell, it remains in my inventory taking up space among my quota of 1000 listings per month.
I know what y'all will say...."its easy to go in and just end them." And you are right. But here is what I say: If eBay can make this change, why not give TWO GTC options? One could be GTC and the other could be GTC UNTIL IT SELLS.
You see, this would not only be VERY easy for eBay to add, but it would also accomplish eBay's goal of giving us the tools to improve our selling potential as they claim.
I can guarantee that eBay would NEVER go for this easy solution.
.
Lastly, one of the side effects I've noticed from this change which is now already 6+ months old, is that it is impossible to locate your sold items through the traditional "sold" or "completed" search options.
.
Yes...it all not a big deal, but I felt like typing this morning over my coffee. Happy selling to all and have a great summer.

I believe GTC was made mandatory on March 18th, 2019.
Ahhhh. So it was only 4 months ago and not 6 months. Thank you for the correction.

It would have been the EASIEST to have left things alone w/o any changes and let sellers decide what they feel is best for their business.

Maybe this link will help you understand this change a bit better? Here is the announcement for the changes and a complete explanation.

It sounds like you have the out of stock option clicked for your items, because otherwise a listing of one item will end when it sells.
