eBay restrictions

I've been an eBay member 10+ years. I'm an occasional buyer & occasional seller. But I mean nothing to eBay. eBay caters to the mega seller. After 10+ years I'm still at eBays' mercy to release "MY" money after 14 days. I was told to file for early release after I make 10 sales in 90 days. Really? I'm lucky if I make 2 or 3 sales in 90 days. I've never had any complaints, disputes or negative reviews. I have always responded to all queries from buyers. My faithful membership and honest selling mean nothing to eBay.........

I noticed that you have 1,755 listings. You have no idea what it's like to be the little guy and post maybe 5 items in a year. Loyalty to the site should count for something. Are you just upset because I never bought nothing from you?

Actually that has little to do with anything.  With that said, I completely respect why you feel the way you feel.  There isn't anything any of us can do to help you except to tell you that if you can sell a few more things a little more often, it would likely help.

Ebay has the rules for a good reason.  Much can happen in all the down time from selling both with you and with Ebay.  And Ebay is keeping that in mind.

But if you established yourself as a seller by selling a dozen items.  Then just make sure you sell something every other month from there on out, you'd likely be rid of this problem for good.  Find stuff in your closet you no longer want or need and just sell it for a little pocket money.

Ebay has had a rule for many years that pertains to New Seller and sellers that have been away from selling for 90+ days. The following is the policy that outlines why you money is likely on hold.

Re: eBay restrictions

I understand your problem.  You go online to sell something like on Craiglist or Facebook and are met like you are starting a business.  Ebay, like Amazon, has come under fire most recently with thieves ransacking stores or trains and selling stolen merchandise online.  This is their reaction.  Ebay has made this place toxic to anyone selling something lying around the house.  Try another platform, as Ebay is trying to maintain it's public image.  I really don't understand the brutal honesty from the poster as normal responses...I say when you post something, imagine someone talked the original post and imagine you said verbally what you just responded, because I notice if a person responded to me in normal conversation the curt response some posters responded I would take it as rude or offensive.

The nerve of them.

I seriously don't understand why people take this personally.  I can understand why it startles them if they sold on here before - one doesn't realise that things change, and it's inconvenient, yes - but taking it personally as if somebody in eBay's backroom says "Oh yeah, I remember Joe Dogsbody - yeah, he sold a gas-powered toilet plunger on here in 2017 and bought a really nice goiter in...what...2019 I think?  Anyway, he's a solid guy."

Re: eBay restrictions

If the complainers are looking for support for their nonsense they should see a mh professional. If the holds are a real major problem, as one poster said, try local venues. Most of this nonsense is caused by those that come here, start selling and are amazed there are actually rules.

Re: eBay restrictions

no...was I supposed to expect you to buy something from me???

and no I do not have 1755 listings...I have 1755 feedback & that's over the course of 20 years...

and yes loyalty should count for something...

I did not list/sell anything on eBay for over 6 months during 2021...and when I returned to selling I had to start all over with the new/occasional/infrequent seller restrictions/limits/payment holds...

started back with 10 item listings...oh whoopie! and I was thoroughly disgusted at that but I knew if I was to get back to where I wanted/needed to be I'd have to work at it...

and after the first sale and the payment hold, then finally payment to my account, I trudged onward...

I have my payment payouts set for weekly and there is no hardship with that...

more sales came along and no more payment holds.

Got my listing limits increased each month and although I am only half way to where I was before taking time off from listing/selling on eBay, I am good with the progress.

It's a slow climb, but it's all doable...
