Can anyone help me here with the TERRIBLE customer service eBay provides! I am not new to eBay at all, however the "chat" option literally is a JOKE. You cannot get in contact with a live person to save your life! I mean come on eBay this should be an easy one, to actually help your customers that keep you in business.

In Chat, I imagine you are chatting with AI mostly, and only if you ask a question the AI can't answer will a human read it and respond. I noticed the replies are a little too quick for me to be talking to an actual person.

You may be better off asking your question here to get suggestions from experienced users.
To contact eBay, use the chat assistant that you reach from the Help & Contact page to request a call back.
What options you see may depend on your particular issue and how busy that department is at the moment.
Try entering "agent" into the chat window. You may have to provide some context to reach the correct department. If you see a "Still need help?" or "More options" choice, either of those should lead to a call back option.
If nothing else works, try this link:

If you are unable to get a call back, that may be for several reasons; a location outside of North America, VOIP phone, and call blockers (personal or that of a service provider) are often issues.

The Chat is ONE option for customer service, NOT the only option.
On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

https://www.facebook.com/ebay
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

In order to get past the "assistant' on chat that just keeps asking you to describe your issue, I just keep typing "my cat ran away" after a couple times the bot will then say connecting to an agent. Works every time

In the post right above yours, I gave all the ways you can contact Customer Service. In the Chat, you only need to type the word AGENT into the chat and then it will get a real person. You don't need to tell them about your cat!

I've tried everything you recommended and none of it works, and there are no ways to contact eBay on their social media sites. There is something different going on, it used to be possible to reach someone to help you.
I didn't receive an item, there was no tracking number, I opened a case and didn't hear from the seller, and there is no option to "ask eBay to step in and help" like there used to be. My case is just sitting open with no options to contact eBay.

Fundamental to the issue is the desire of Ebay to eliminate all unnecessary contact between members and human beings at Ebay.
Ebay believes there are few reasons to contact a human, and is often correct. Those who succeed in reaching one are often dissatisfied that they get no resolution of their problem, because the human has neither the intelligence and training which exceeds that of the Ebayer.

What happens when you request a call back here?
there are no ways to contact eBay on their social media sites.
You should be able to send a direct message from those social media pages. Click on the envelope icon on the twitter page, for instance.

Check the status of your case and ask eBay to step in if appropriate:

How long has the case been open?
The option to ask Ebay to step in should show up on day 4.

Sorry, but that isn't correct. I mean, I don't know what issues you had in connecting with the links, but those options are available. People do it all the time.
One of the links I gave you, gives you the option of having Ebay call YOU. IDK what you did, but Ebay is active on the social media links I gave you and the other links for customer service work as well.
I do however wish you well and hope you find a way to resolve your issues.

Yeah, the chat bot they have set up isn't very helpful. If I can't discuss anything with a human, and it takes a lot to get one on the phone, I don't even bother.

If you are using the Chat @dpgcolle-30 , just type in the word AGENT and the bot will get you to a real live person.
There are other options I posted for reaching Customer Service. You can see them in post #4.
