Hi, I ship my products from multiple locations from all over the US. I use the warehouse that is closer to the buyer usually and I offer free shipping on all my listings. I received an item location misrepresentation message from eBay and it seemed to have caused my sales to slow down. Is there any way to reverse this slow down? What should I put as the item location for my listings? I want to follow all the rules, but I am being told conflicting information from eBay representatives. I called to ask if I am allowed to put "multiple locations" as the shipping location and was told that it wasn't allowed.
Can anybody explain this sentence from the Ebay policy below:
"All items located in the United States must include a zip code or use the shipping rate table, unless the item ships using freight shipping, or will ship from multiple locations."
What does "ship from multiple locations" mean in this sentence if I am not allowed to put multiple locations in my listing?

That Is allowed, and an eBay employee psoted about it today. The ZIP Code is only necessary if you're using calculated shipping from one specific location.

Here's the thread in which an eBay staffer confirmed the policy, and also apparently confirmed that customer support makes mistakes about it:

Thank you. Is there any way to contact tyler@ebay so that he can help me? I think I'm being penalized for the same problem.

You tagged him in your post, so he has received the page. You just need to wait until he can respond to it.

Hi @chrisphamle - if you have multiple ship from locations within the US you are not required to input a ZIP code for the location of your item. I will have your recent calls to Customer Service reviewed for appropriate coaching.
When it comes to your placement in search, I strongly recommend reviewing the seller practices policy and making sure that your account is in compliance. This would include making sure your items ship from the location you say they are from (for instance, if you say the item is in the US and it ships from Canada that would be inappropriate), having the inventory on hand or an authorized agreement with the third party to fulfill, etc.
I also reccomend reviewing your account for any listing violations or removals, as that can also impact your placement in search. Examples of this would include VeRO removals, prohibited item removals or listing policy violations.
All of these factor into your placement with search, and resolving these types of issues should improve it. Thanks!

Thanks for your response tyler@ebay
It is actually this account that is suffering. Can you have my recent phone calls to customer service be reviewed for appropriate coaching? Will I receive a phone call or email for the coaching?
I still am not understanding what I put for the location for my listings in this case since it does not require a zip code for multiple ship from locations within the US. If it doesn’t require a zip code, what should I put?
My account had some violations and removals before because I build my listing information from many sources, but I have since reviewed my listings to make sure that I do not have anymore violations. I hope I will no longer be penalized in the search ranking soon. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification @cellbestphones - I'll have these contacts reviewed instead. If you ship from multiple locations within the US you won't have to provide a ZIP code. Indicating that it ships from the US or inputting 'multiple locations' would probably work best. If you are running into a particular error or block please get me a screenshot so I can dig a bit deeper.
When it comes to sales being impacted, I think that may be hard to determine as it appears this particular account has been registered less than a month. I don't recommend basing your overall sales performance on anything less than a full month's worth of data. Thanks!

Hi tyler@ebay, so sorry. I was signed into the wrong account again. You are right, that other account has been made less than a month ago. This is actually the correct account that is has been impacted. So please have this account reviewed. I was getting several sales day for a couple months until I received the item location misrepresentation message. After that message, the sales have dropped significantly.
Thanks for the information about putting "Multiple Locations" in for the location. I will change my current listings to these and will be using that on new listings now.
Most of the eBay reps on the phone have no idea what I'm talking about, so thanks again Tyler 🙂

Happy to help @supergreatshop - on this account I'd recommend the same information that I provided to your other account yesterday: review the selling practices policy and make sure that your account standing is good.
Hoping that your sales improve!

Any problems with another account from the same person will affect all accounts by that same person or even other people using the same IP address. Not sure if that is an issue but just saying.

tyler@ebay could you message me on how to do this on some of my listings? If I leave zip code box empty it won't let me submit new listings.

that ended quickly

Switch to flat rate for shipping, then delete the ZIP Code. Enter your choice of location text (such as just plain United States).

Thank you tyler@ebay I really appreciate your help. I have a lot of listings. Is there any way to change the location to "Multiple Locations" on all of them at once?
