Did you mean:

eBay is too big for its britches

I have been on ebay for a very long time and was always fine with the process of buying and selling and only had a couple of bad transactions along the way.

Things are different now. You get insertion fees if you want to sell anything, you get constant prompts that your browser isn't supported if it isn't the big three (seriously when has Opera NOT ever been a compliant browser?). God forbid you should try to privately browse (in Safari) or be agressive in deleting cookies because you will be hounded every time you log on to reidentify on this 'new machine'. MAC address anyone?

I have a seller that I will continue to buy from because I want to support his business and he's worth a little bit of being hypocritical but nobody and nothing else. No selling, no buying. No nothing. Dead and buried, done.

There are a multitude of places to buy things online and that grows every day. All this 'we're doing it for your protection' or (I assume) 'we're losing money by not charging insertion fees' is **bleep** just red tape that is going to make ebay completely uninhabitable and a losing proposition for everyone.

Ebay has always had insertion fees.  That is not a new thing.

Just change your browser.  I use Chrome and it works well for me.

I just think you may misunderstand some things.  I wish you well and if you have any specific question, maybe I or someone else could assist you so things could go a little smoother for you.

I'm unsure of exactly what you are complaining about.  Like I said before, Ebay has always had insertion fees and selling fees AKA final value fees.

Yeah and how many of those have the worldwide exposure that eBay does?

No, you don't get insertion fees every time you want to sell something.  Everyone gets free listings.

Most use Chrome or Firefox.

As for getting too big for its' britches, there is a lot of that going around these days.  Ebay is allowed to take whatever security measures they deem necessary.

Yes Things are different now

Ebay used to charge for every listing and only had one free listing day per year, now they give you 50 free listings per month and if that's not enough for you just get some more ids like everyone else does and each id gets 50 listings per month

Re: eBay is too big for its britches

I do a lot of "window" shopping on other sites.

Nothing comes close to ebay in my category.

As far as the browser, I use Internet Explorer and Chrome.

My daughter uses Safari with no problem.

As for ebay asking to confirm information, imo that is a good idea.  Ebay needs tighter security to keep the hackers at bay.

Re: eBay is too big for its britches

I have fees for one listing. 3.00 for what was a 20.00 t-shirt (one size too small). To add insult to injury, the first time I posted it, and this wasn't my first time selling, they yanked it and lied to me about why. The two lies were 'you only have one picture' and 'this was suspicious activity because it was so sudden'. I had to call in three times to get it fixed. Then they charge me fees.

I've sold maybe 20 things on e-bay in the entirety of my time here (90s). No insertion fees ever.

Re: eBay is too big for its britches

Admittedly, I don't sell often but I've never been charged a fee before I sold something. Ever. All of this is new behavior and it's just not worth it anymore to me.

If you go a period without listing you are considered a new seller. You invoice will tell you precisly what the fee was for

The email you got from Ebay may tell you why you were charged this fee.  If not, your invoice will.  You can look at that at any time to find out what the charge was for.

Would you please post it here so we can see the whole thing and the actual wording.  You can leave out your selling ID if different.  That would allow us a better picture of what is going on with this and a better way to help you.

Don't forget pictures! Ebay used to charge for those, too.
