This is a bad idea by Ebay. It makes the seller look bad when he or she receives an offer and has to either ignore it or respond by explaining that it was unauthorized. The seller should have full power over their listing price. I am now spending time every day undoing best offers added to my listings.
I recently removed a best offer and shortly after it’s sold for my price.

Yep, it's eBay stepping where they shouldn't be and dictating our price.
We all hate it, but can't do much about it but remove it.

I fail to see why ebay does this to sellers. They also relist the odd sold items. I had once a once off item which had sold be relisted with quantity 18. When I complained they said blame my staff. Well I don't have any staff and its not something I would ever do since I always have one off items since 2004! So if you ever can't find an item go back and see if it previously sold. Adding best offer without seller approval should be outlawed. The thing is ebay always deny they do it. So you have to watch your listings like a hawk. Oh they once removed international visibility on my store when I had the button ticked. No good at all. Stop it!🛑

You can use eBay's mania for "Best Offers" to your advantage, whether you list with auction or BIN. In the Selling Details section of the listing form click on the Best Offer click box. Just below that you will see two click boxes marked "Automatically accept offers of at least" and "Automatically decline offers lower than". Click both these boxes and enter your lowest acceptable price in both. If a buyer makes a lowball offer, it gets automatically rejected and you will never get a notice or email. If the buyer makes an offer equal or higher than your lowest price, it will get accepted and the item will close the same way as if the buyer did a BIN. And you don't have to be bothered with all the back-and-forth offers and eBay can't sneak in a BO without your knowledge. You might even get lucky as has happened to me now and then and the BO will be above your lowest price. I list auctions only but it works fine for me. It still can't stop nagging emails from problematic buyers, but that's what your BBL is for.
