Amazon dumped all their small-volume sellers because we weren't profitable enough for them. They used various excuses, but the result was the same.
Now eBay is also trying to dump their "mom-and-pop" accounts. I lost my top rated seller status because I don't do enough transactions. Every other category is perfect.
This is GROSSLY unfair to sellers who have stuck with eBay for decades and who pay extra for eBay stores (as I do). I'm RAPIDLY becoming absolutely disgusted with eBay. You?

If you think about it a person selling 10 items a month deserves to be a top rated seller ? If that was the case almost everyone would be top rated and the whole program would become useless. They are not running off small sellers just not giving them the atta-boy extras they give to higher volume sellers. As a small seller you can continue to keep selling all you want assuming you do not have any violations.

yep.............they just up the number of free listings to 200...from 50.
Absolutely shows they are trying to get rid of the small seller.................

Amazon has not dumped small sellers. I lost top rated seller on one of my accounts. It is up to me if I want to build that account back to top rated. It is a choice.

I think the bar for TRS is set too low, should be 250 sales a year and a minimum of $2500.00.

The ONLY way eBay could become Amazon is if JB bought the site.
Wouldn't that be a hoot!

Is being a top rated seller all the important to the buyer? In the area I sell and buy in, eBay motors mostly, I am more concerned with their feedback, price, photos, description and what they are selling, esp. if it is a part I need.

Some buyers avoid them because far, far too many subpar sellers have TRS due to their volume only. Their huge volume tends to negate cases and complaints. Certain overseas sellers of junk spring to mind. You know, the ones with 95% feedback and tons of negs that say bad quality, broken, never received...
Some buyers are starting to avoid TRS sellers because too many of them abuse the returns deductions.
As a buyer, I've purchased from TRS sellers who have atrocious bedside manner. Their CS skills are non-existent.
As a TRS seller myself, it makes me sad that some sellers ruin it for us all.

You've got a whole six items listed, you're not exactly the type that should be awarded the TSR badge.
Want TSR? List and sell more, and have half bassed customer service.

TRS status is meaningless and has very, very little impact, if any, upon sales. I lose TRS status every year or two simply because I mail small under $5 items in an envelope with a stamp and without tracking. As for Ebay becoming Amazon, it will not happen and can not happen as those two companies have very different business models.

I was still on Amazon when they did all that.
eBay doesn't care either. They see the money Amazon makes by doing what they do and they want the same thing, its why their policies keep looking more and more like Amazon policies. This is happening everywhere really. All of small business, at least in the west, is on borrowed time.
Do the best you can while you're here, try your best to get a physical storefront and know, without any doubt that eBay is doing the exact same thing Amazon did. I actually had a conversation with a complete stranger at the post office the other day and when I mentioned eBay, this stranger said "eBay treats their sellers like garbage" lol. Even complete strangers know the score.

No, I am not disgusted by eBay simply because they have set criteria for Top Rated Sellers and stick to those criteria.
No, I do not think the fact that you lost Top Sated Status because you did not meet the criteria is "grossly unfair". Nor do I think that it amounts to "dumping" you.
No, I do not think Top Rated Seller status should be a "participation ribbon" that every contestant gets.

I wander in and out of TRS for the same reason... no tracking on little white envelopes.
10-01-2020 10:45 AM
I am very much feeling ebay is not making my items as visible! Yet when people were not working and home due to covid.. I had great sales. They are controlling this for sure. For whatever reason. And yes no way to treat sellers who have been with them for decades!!

I will never, ever get a TRS rating.
As above, too many items without tracking. And selling from Europa to the US, I stand little chance ever to fullfill the demands for low shipping time.
On the other hand, I see no reason why I should care about that.
People still find my auctions, and as far as I can recall, I have never ever been asked by a bidder about my lack of TRS.
It´s never fun to be rebuffed. Like when a total stranger reads your profile on a dating site, then blocks you.
Nothing can be done anyway, and I think it is better to move forward, rather than stopping to think about blocking daters and the CEO of ebay.
