Minimum to promote now is going to be at 2%.
I'm sorry but you can't tell me that we are going to get better results now that 2% is the minimum as opposed to the 1%.
It's like a bottle of soda was $2 for a 20 ounces and now the same soda will be $3.00 for probably 16 ounces.
Oh and who can't forget about the $8 gas we now enjoy, and no Baby formula, and the new shortage of personal hygiene products...what else... oh yeah and all the flood of thousands and thousands new neighbors coming in daily from elsewhere.
You know I'm starting to really miss those terrible tweets.

Back to the bigger question-is promoting worth it? Do you have numbers that prove the lesser amount was worth the money? Then what do those numbers say if the amount goes up?
Sorry, I used to be an accountant and I'm big on numbers and spreadsheets. It all boils down to value-is it worth it or not? Only one way to find out.

And don't forget they are now charging the fee on the full amount of the transaction which includes any tax paid by the buyer.

Percentages seem to rise over time. Generally they don't need to with price inflation, but at the moment, I suspect all the big box stores, gas, etc. will continue raising prices to account for all the currency that got pumped into circulation, but alot of sellers on Ebay will slash prices just to generate some cash and so Ebay might have had to raise it to 2% to reflect the price drops.

Yep inflation hitting every crack and crevice in society and this is not going to stop any time soon. So, if you gotta spend more here then you gotta raise the prices. That’s great if people can ever afford this stuff.

OK, that’s good as far as Ebay sellers I like to buy from.

I have enough trouble trying to do my accounting as it is without figuring out any promoted fees on top of everything else. We sell in a not so saturated category brand so our need to increase our price based on adding the promoted stuff is saving our lives right now. It’s hard enough to get buyers with these prices as they are and then have to raise them with promoted fees. Some may need to use this stuff to even be seen on here depending on their category and the hundreds of thousands of listings.

What many don't know or understand is:
Google/Yahoo has been charging 'pay per click' for well over 10 years.
Want your website up front on the 1st page? You have to 'pay' an 'amount', per 'keyword' and you are COMPETING AGAINST OTHER WEBSITES.
This concept is FAR FROM NEW. eBay is just getting into it.
The difference? At least on eBay you are only paying whatever percentage you choose, when an items SELLS.
On those search engines I mentioned- you pay when someone just CLICKS on your listing. No Sale? Too bad.
Also note that 'promotions', here on eBay, work another way.
When a customer 'clicks' on your item, as they scroll down, they are shown 'other similar SPONSORED items'.. so basically 'OTHER SELLERS STUFF'.
If the other sellers items are cheaper, you just lost a sale.
Also note that IF you participate in 'promotions' (sponsored listings) that YOUR ITEMS will shown on the OTHER SELLERS items.
Even if at only 1%!!
I did it for the 3/4 years and I will move up to the 2% just to be sure that MY ITEMS are SHOWN on the OTHER SELLERS similar items; as well as my own.
