If I search for "3m strips" and find the listing for $3.50 - $4.95 by me, clearancecorner, and click on it, it only shows me a single variation. If I delete everything on the URL after the item number so it's just "ebay.com/itm/<item number>" then it shows me all of the variations I have on the listing.
Please do NOT click on "View listings" next to my name and get to the listing that way. That won't trigger the bug!
Is anyone else seeing this? I tried speaking with eBay Facebook, and they are getting irritated with me, repeatedly saying they've copy/pasted the item number I gave them and it looks fine. They aren't listening to me to try searching for it and get to it that way. Here, I'm purposely not giving the item number. 🙂
Yes, I'm well aware that certain items cannot have variations. This is not the standard post people make asking why they can't add a variation in a category that doesn't allow them.
And, if there's any debate about whether this listing should use variations, I spoke with several eBay Facebook representatives about how to decide when variations should be used or not used, and they said this was a perfect example or when variations *should* be used. I know eBay has never really nailed down when they should be used, and there's different ways to interpret how they phrase it.

I see what is happening, but I am not sure why...the "link" from your "Sellers Other Items" page has the
?variable number attached to it, and I am not sure why...I checked a few of mine, and the URL format does not include a hash or variable (these are called site tracking data variables)....
(itmmeta=01JADJFA2C9ZKB8Y41SFM7W90Q&hash=item3b9cded0ae%3Ag%3A6DcAAOSwFcFkOIs9&var=555982932889)
might be something in the way you configured the variables?

Not sure how to find your listing, typing in your username with or without the item name doesn't give me any results.

If you search for "3m strips", at least on my search I'm the 5th listing on Best Match. If you hit CTRL+F and type in clearancecorner, your browser should search the page for it too. Or, you can sort by lowest price and I'm at $3.50 - $4.95.

Those show the same for me, both have the variations dropdown.

The two links that @dhbookds posted? Interesting. If so, that makes me think it's either one of eBay's hidden A/B tests or some servers are OK and some have a bug. (Large websites often don't have a single web server - they have many, often even spread out. Visitors are transparently routed to one, and if they're spread out it's often one close to them to get better response times.

the tracking data is NOT present when you click links from your store (and the variations work properly)...
that is through that "popup" that shows between your store and the listing

This sounds like the issue I first noticed on Oct 2nd. Please see my post on the Technical Issues Board here I reported the issue to eBay customer service on Oct 2nd, and they were able to replicate the issue. At this time, we are waiting for an update from kyle@ebay
I do not know anything about deciphering URLs, however, I see the issue only when clicking on one of my listings from the main search page.

Ooh, I hadn't noticed that detail. Yes, they show up differently for me:
Bad listing (1st one):
Good listing (2nd one):
Thanks for pointing that out! We don't use variations listings so I can't check our listings to compare, but I suspect you're not the only one with the issue, but with it being somewhat difficult to find if you don't know about it, others probably just don't know about it!

Hey @mcdougle4248 thanks for checking in. I haven't received any updates on this so far, but will continue asking for them!
