eBay fees

So now eBay raised their final value fee to 12.9% (+.30!) for most categories. Okay, everything is going up, BUT charging their fee on the state sales tax they now tack on is a little much. I have nothing to do with that, and I don't appreciate eBay making more money from me by doing that. Is there a lawyer out there reading this that will start a class action suit against eBay? It's gotta be illegal. (or at least really greedy) WAKE UP EBAY.

The Community is NOT a way to contact Ebay customer service.  It is a place for members to converse.

And you can not speak to the moderators jobs or what they do and don't do.  You are mad at Ebay for daring to charge you a fee for using their services so you are just venting and lashing out at anyone that doesn't meet your expectations.  It happens from time to time.  But once you have a better understanding as to how the site or sites like Ebay work, the better off you will be.

eBay fees

ebay customer service does not address issues and wishes us to vent it out on here

so preach elsewhere

Yes, indeed ebay is wrong to charge listing fees in secret AFTER they say you can list free!

eBay fees

Ebay says listing is free and then each listing is charged the listing fee

AFTER they sell it

so it was never free

bait/switch tactics and some of us live on NOTHING when we work all the time and do not have time to go off on a high horse about ebay policies/rules

bottom line- ebay is greedy!

As you brought up feedback of another poster, I am just advising that the reply you left to a buyer's feedback was against eBay policy - you can not put any negative remarks on a buyer's FB or reply to same, just be careful in future as if they reported this your account could be hit with a defect.

I was speaking to another poster as was noted in the post you are responding to.

With that said, while you accomplished your goal to be rude, the actual point you are making agrees with what I posted.  I just didn't find the need to be rude.

It is also clear you weren't following the conversation.  The other poster wasn't talking about Listing fees and listing fees are not "secret".  The other poster was complaining about having to pay a FVF when something sold.  They expect Ebay to allow people to list for free and sell for free.

All the fees are covered under the link I gave in post 90.  It is a public policy and nothing is secret.  Because you haven't ventured out to read the policy doesn't mean it is secret, it only means you did not read it.  Nothing more.

I get it that you don't agree with me, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.  It is likely that you are confused on what the difference is between a listing fee and a FVF [final value fee].

If you are charged a listing fee, it happens at the moment you post a listing.  When you are creating a listing, just above where you click the button to post the listing, it will tell you if there is any fee for listing your item.

A FVF happens ONLY after you have sold an item and the buyer pays.  That is the ONLY time you are charged a FVF.  It has NOTHING to do with a listing fee as you aren't listing the item at this point, you have sold it.

So you are still looking for Ebay to give you their services for free which is not something they are going to do.  But likely something you will understand better after you do your research on the other two sites you are considering, Etsy and Poshmark.  Then maybe you will understand a bit better.
