eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

I bought a dvd from a seller here on 11/18. He said delivery was from 11/27 - 11/30. He said it shipped on 11/19. Tracking showed it stayed in NJ as of 11/26 so I contacted the seller. He says shipping is 10-14 business days. Well if he had said that when I bought it I would have purchased from Amazon. So I checked his listings. The same dvd I bought from him which said “last one” was listed in his items still and said last one. I no longer have confidence in this seller or this purchase. I contacted eBay for a refund today since it’s beyond the delivery window. They write back saying by Dec 7 I will know something. That’s not acceptable as I feel eBay has no urgency to help me. I should have paid closer attention to the sellers bad feedback.

eBay's action date for something that has been shipped realistic/appropriate.

buyer expectations sometime are not.

thanks for posting. I can assure you that I will cause you no delays in a purchase from me

Yes, I'm fully aware of that. But if I print a label Sunday night and drop it off Monday morning where it shows accepted at the post office, I don't tell my buyer that I shipped it on Sunday just because I packaged it and printed a label.

@css2001

But Ebay does.  When you create a label in Ebay it generates an email to your buyer notifying them of the shipment and giving them the tracking number.

You can change the date on the label when you create it to the next day.  That is what I do.  I often do as much of Monday's shipping on Sunday as I can.

The seller is located in the UK, not the US as they claim. They are not using the USPS.

The account the OP is posting with here is a US account.  The OP is the buyer.

How did you determine that the Seller was from the UK?

Re: eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

They do have quite a few!

I've had some good transactions with them - it seems to be a toss-up - had a few books arrive with mold be sold as "excellent condition".

Having experience with them over the years and knowing they are actually in the UK, I do expect weeks. Shipment to me (in Ohio) has usually taken between 2-4 weeks for arrival.

However, I think that buyers that don't have experience with this and some of the other UK sellers think their items are being shipped from within the US due to the names some of these operations use. I think eBay bases the shipment estimates on some of them using Florida or other states as locations? I'll buy from "Florida" and will see shipment a week or two later out of New Jersey or some place in Illinois - maybe that's where DSL's hubs are located?

@jay19610 - if it is that seller, using DHL (in my experience) - I think the packages are then turned over to the USPS for the last leg, which maybe wait for a certain volume of packages to transfer from DHL to the USPS. I had one purchase never show up and was refunded for it after about a month.

Well, I can attest to that because I've purchased several books from them over the years on various venues. Their listings here often say Florida, but my experiences have been that a week or more after purchase the shipment tracking will show arrived/shipped out of New Jersey or Illinois. They use DHL and then DHL transfers to the USPS. I think they wait on a certain volume of packages. Just my experiences with them, though.

Ok, so the seller is from the UK according to some posters here.  That I missed or didn't get from what the OP posted.

Re: eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

My guess is that the OP is not aware. At least from past feedback I've read, some buyers are not - they go by the listed US locations and probably figure USA in the seller's name means their items are located in the U.S. That's what I thought years ago!

Then how did you figure out the seller is in the UK?

Re: eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

Well that, and shows registration as United States for sure would make it hard for  buyer to know where they are

Re: eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

I've purchased from them multiple times, not just on here, and have read plenty of their feedback elsewhere, too. I'm not 100% sure, but their actual website also has free shipment "within the UK" 😉 There are a few other huge book/media sellers on here that are similar - in UK but utilize US/USA in their names, US locations.

Re: eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

Had to go look - Glendale Heights, IL is where some books I've purchased from them in Florida originated at. Hope that helps.

Oh so you are assuming that the most current feedback on the buyer's account is the seller on the transaction they are concerned about here???

Re: eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

That was just my (and another responder's) guess/es. They typically do leave feedback within a day or two; plus, the OP didn't have loads of feedback in the recent past. Don't know for sure, but know it's a common complaint and they sell media.

Re: eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

I do think they have an actual entity with it's business registration in Delaware. Again, I am not 100% sure - maybe some product is located in the U.S. But, I've always seen my purchases shipments "show-up" and then move out of Illinois or New Jersey - and, it's usually at least a few weeks between DHL/USPS.

Re: eBay doesn’t act quickly enough

It is a listing violation if they state the item is shipping from one location and it is actually coming from another.
