eBay is changing my fixed price listings to OBO without my permission.
If I wanted to accept bids, I would have made that an option from the start.
It is an intrusive and very annoying policy. eBay should provide an opt-out option for this "feature."
It is upsetting enough for me to seek other auction sites choices, as they appear to have no plans to fix this flaw.

eBay staff has said this happens when they identify high priced items compared to available inventory and historical data. It is designed to help you sell your item.
Another path eBay could take is to not show your item when other items that are much better values to buyers are available.
At least eBay is giving you a chance by showing your listings with best offer versus not showing your items at all?

In the OP's defense - particular hard drives sell for different prices depending on the specifications. Ebay is lumping their higher priced hard drive into the pack of low cost ones. Doing a google search - this isn't an easy drive to find as they are sold out other places so I can see why the OP objects.

So sorry but to eBay, this isn't a flaw. It was an announced policy change that is working as intended.

I think it is the buyers of hard drives that is using generic search terms versus direct search terms that is lumping all hard drives together.
