eBay & Inventory Control

So I am one of the eBay sellers to not join MP as of this time and am slowly having my Selling Rights stripped away a little at a time.  I am still truly baffled how eBay wants to Charge me for a 'Subscription' that I cannot fully use at all.

Here is the Kicker.  I had to briefly evacuate My So. Cal. Home for a Week and moved some of my eBay Swag into storage while away.

Unfortunately.  When some of my items were in storage they became damaged as temperatures had reached 121 Degrees.  Instead of burning to death some of my items had heat/melt damage.  Don't know if anyone out there has been in a Storage Locker when it is 121 degrees.    Now I know how my Pizza with the Works feels.

So I take note of what is damaged and return home.  Jump on eBay and try to deduct the amount of certain items availability and eBay WILL NOT LET ME!!!!!    So If I used to have 5 of a Specific Item and now only have 3 due to an Act Of Nature/God I cannot my control MY OWN INVENTORY.

If a buyer decides to buy all 5 I would only have 3.  No fault of my own.  eBay's doing.

Now I am open to unnecessary disputes/claims/ Negative Feedback etc........

Memo to eBay:  I OWN the Inventory.   You DO NOT OWN the Inventory.

Understand that you do not want us Sellers to add any new items.  Even to existing GTC Listings.  God forbid you help us make any $$$$ because we will not sell out to MP.   Especially during these crazy times.

Just leave our ability to adjust listings due to damage/theft ours.  You have no control of my Inventory unless you live in my Crib.

General reply:

It's almost hilarious how some people are so dead set against MP just like they were years ago when PAYPAL was rolled out as the eBay primary payment.  It's all just a little bit of history repeating.  I wasn't thrilled with the idea at first but it was either that or try to sell on sites with a fraction of the traffic.  And guess what?  I was worried about nothing.  I gave my SSN (just like I had to with PAYPAL) and my bank information (just like I had to with PAYPAL).  I was never asked to provide my DL#...

It's been two months and I haven't seen the downside yet.  I pay for the labels from the pending funds and I get daily payouts to my bank which take 24 to 48 hours to hit my account.  Just like any other merchant account processor.  I've had to issue a couple of partial refunds for international shipping overages and it was simple.  I've even had to issue a refund for a returned item.  The buyer is a long time customer and wasn't thrilled with one of the items in her order so I just issued a prepaid label and we didn't involve eBay.  When it got back, I refunded the price of the single item.  It took a couple of minutes to find how to do it without refunding her whole order, but other than that it was so easy even I could do it.  Plus if I had to be honest, their bookkeeping on the payments tab is easier to keep track of than PAYPAL.  To me it's laid out better.

Don't get me wrong.  It's your business to run how you see fit.  If one negative makes you want to hang up your selling career here, have at it.  If you feel eBay has too much control over how you do things, go west young (wo)man.  If you can't abide by eBay handing your money, then do what you feel you must.

But forgive me if I don't understand all the moaning and gnashing of teeth.

No.  They want to keep me and others to continue to charge a Monthly fee until my Store Subscription expires which isn't for SEVERAL MONTHS!!!!.   I shouldn't be charged a 100% Subscription fees with less than 40% of the benefits of just a couple months back.

If you want to be a Salacious Crumb to eBay's Jabba go ahead and be chained to them the rest of your life.  eBay can change hands or go under.  Your Info will remain.

Since 2018, eBay as been telling sellers that everyone would have to move to managed payments.

In the last two seller updates, eBay reminded sellers that unless they registered when they were switched, their business would be interrupted.

I'm not sure why you are implying that your inability to read eBay seller updates somehow makes me "chained to eBay for the rest of my life". I don't follow the logic.

Re: eBay & Inventory Control

I can read the updates.  eBay never said they would disrupt control of Inventory.  They said the ability to "Create New Listings."   Find an update and tell me I am wrong.  If one of my items becomes damaged I should be able to deduct it from a listing.  eBay should not be promoting and facilitating sales of damaged items.

I am also a Essential Worker Here in Los Angeles.  Schedule is CRAZY and many Banks are still closed here in L.A.  Not going to Jump through Hoops of fire during a Pandemic because eBay says so.

You are CHAINED TO EBAY THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.   Even if you quit eBay or one day it goes under your info will remain with them.    Do you even sell on eBay?  I have been selling since 1997.  You seem to be only a buyer since 2010.   Show me some of your MP listings.   Please don't tell me that you have another separate eBay account you sell  from that you are "AFRAID TO SHOW THE COMMUNITY"  your listings in fear of retaliation like many of the Salacious Crumbs on the board.    If you want to discuss "Selling."  Become a Seller.

Several years ago, I became a below standard seller.  ebay limited me to only being able to list 10 items until I became an above standard seller.  At the time I had an annual premium store subscription with over 350 listings.  I had to wait until each listing ended, as I could not make changes or relist until there were less than 10 listings remaining.  I was still charged the store fee.

Not going to Jump through Hoops of fire during a Pandemic because eBay says so.

eBay didn't say you had to join MP.  They simply told you that your business would be interrupted unless you did.

eBay should not be promoting and facilitating sales of damaged items.

eBay promotes and facilitates any listing on the site. It is up to the seller to take down listings if they can't fulfill them.

Do you even sell on eBay? You seem to be only a buyer since 2010.  Show me some of your MP listings.

I've been a buyer since 1998 and seller since 2001. I don't have any MP listings, because none of my 6 selling accounts have been asked to join MP yet.

Please don't tell me that you have another separate eBay account you sell from

Sorry. I just did.

If you want to discuss "Selling." Become a Seller.

Actually, I think many people would benefit from discussing selling on this board before they become sellers, not afterward.
