eBay Valet is Ending - Looks like they started something new...

Just noticed that eBay Valet is closing, fyi.

Looks like they started something new called eBay Consignment where other sellers can sell your stuff for you..

I think this is pretty recent unless I missed something.

That's how it use to be, but it flopped somewhat on eBay's end. Then eBay switched to the Valet service. eBay use to send out email notices to me during both services being offered. "Have someone else do all the work for you", "Just sit back and collect your money" type of email.

have no idea about it, but get tickled that there are 2 reference links to the valet program........wonder how long they will stay up.......

I saw that too. It's like eBay to not take that down.

If memory serves, one of the valets is doing eBay bag authentication (without any disclosure of who the authenticators are)

Another epic failure.

Too bad they threw all their Trading Assistants under the bus for that.  Those people actually knew what they were selling and how to sell it.

I will forever be grateful to the Trading Assistant that helped my brother clear out my mother's stuff. I'm in North Carolina and he's in Ohio and doesn't even have a computer or cellphone. I found a Trading Assistant that was close to him, emailed back and forth with her and checked out her listings. Then she went to meet with my brother and helped him clear out the stuff that was worth listing on Ebay.

I know there were some problems with some of the Trading Assistants but there were some good one in the program.

It looks like that Consignment thing only deals with specific categories. How long has this been around? I never saw any mention of it until just this week.

Ebay being sued by someone who claims they "stole" his idea......  Apparently, the claimant  got by the first court test...so the case may have some merit.

Did the coverage of the case explain why it was a noteworthy variation on the basic theme of  "Send us your stuff and we'll sell it for you"?

Considering ebay valet was akin to giving your items to the local crack dealer to sell for you its bound to be an improvement. EBAY is in trouble legally over what the valets did.

I didn't delve too far.........Ebay hired the guy as a consultant I think it was and he claims he had worked out the detailed plan some years ago.....apparently showed it to ebay and then they let him go....... now he thinks/claims the valet program is "his".......   His father is a lawyer, so not spending much to pursue it.......

Remember when they had to fight about BIN being used.......I never did understand that one either......
