eBay Title/Description Search has not been working for almost three weeks

The title/description search function of eBay's Advanced Search has not been working properly for about three weeks -- roughly the same period reported in this thread:  Significant Drops in eBay Impressions and Organic Page Views: A Huge Problem 

I have no doubt that the loss of title/description search is directly related to the drop-off in impressions and organic page views.    The reduction in visibility has affected my listings so dramatically that I have stopped using auction format entirely.   It would be nothing short of reckless to put items at auction when my  potential buyers -- many of whom rely on title/description search -- can't find my items.    Switching everything to Buy It Now has not been a solution, either.   Due to the title/description failure, my items are still invisible to a large swath of buyers.  If they can't find them, they can't buy them.

In the 2+ weeks since I have made numerous calls to eBay customer service and have spoken to supervisors on the Leadership Team who have reproduced the problem while on the phone with me and have plainly acknowledged that the issue is affecting "large groups of users."

Yet the failure of Title/Description search still has not been reported in the latest update to the Ongoing Technical Issues thread:  Ongoing Technical Issues 

I have been on eBay more than 20 years and have consistently maintained a level of sales to be rated as a Silver Powerseller (although Powersellers aren't  a thing anymore).   I know how to sell.   My sales are currently down by 58% compared to last month and have dropped as low as 86% since this problem began.  

Impressions and organic page views will not improve until the Title/Description search is fixed.    Sales will not improve until the Title/Description search is fixed.   This problem has occurred in the past  and whenever it does page views and sales plummet.    It confounds me that the problem has not been resolved yet.   This is not some minor matter.   One of the eBay Search Engine's major features is not working for many of us.   The problem has been reported to eBay and acknowledged by members of the eBay Leadership Team.  Why is it taking weeks to fix it?

Spoke to eBay again yesterday.   First, a customer service agent, then a member of the Leadership team, who, after reviewing the record of calls I have made over the past four weeks, transferred me to a tech specialist in Ireland.    The tech person asked me to explain the problem, then requested that I walk him through a search where title/description is not returning proper results.   

I invited him to view one of my listings, select a phrase of two or three words from my listing pertaining to details about the item,  then perform a title/description search.   He tried it and confirmed that my item was not appearing in his search results despite that he was using specific details from my item as his keywords.

He said tickets have been submitted about the problem, but that it is a "site issue" and therefore no updates or restoration estimate can be given.   He said that all we can do is wait for the IT team to fix it, however there is no knowing when that may be.

In the meantime, my sales are crashing:

Sales down 63.5% over the last 31 days.

Listing impressions down 52.2% over the last 31 days.

Listing page views down 55.1% over the last 31 days.

There's a multi-page thread in this forum where sellers are questioning why organic impressions and page views are down.  

IMO, the answer is simple:  One of the search engine's two major functionalities -- title/description search -- is not working properly.   It's not offline entirely, as a small portion of items listed seem to have been properly indexed and do appear in title/description search.   But a great many items are being shut out and doomed to languish in search engine limbo.

You are not showing any listings at all so no one here can help you. I can say my average sales have been steady for the last month so people can see listings on Ebay. Impressions actually mean nothing so no need to get all worked up about them. That just means a person looked at a page with 60 listings but for one reason or another did not click on YOUR item. Could be your pictures, your price, or even the name of the listing title. It also means if there are 12 pages of the same thing you have listed a buyer just never got to page 8 that your item is on.

Thanks for your reply.   I have been selling full-time for 20+ years.  I'm fairly certain the problem isn't related to how I'm marketing or promoting my items.  

My posts above were meant to be informational, to let other members know why their own impressions, page views and sales may have dropped off.   I agree that no one here can help.    The solution to this problem is beyond all our reach.    eBay alone must make this right.    And hopefully soon.
