I shared this info in a thread in the Mobile Apps board earlier, but thought it might be of interest on the Seller boards too - eBay appears to be testing adding a "Find Similar" feature to search on both desktop and in the app that can be accessed by clicking on three vertical dots in the lower right corner of search results.
I'm currently seeing it in the latest version of the Android app as well as in Chrome incognito, but not when logged in and in Firefox when logged in but not incognito but your experience may vary if eBay is A/B testing or this is a phased rollout.
It looks like eBay is pretty much just doing a text based search for the title of whatever the listing is and it does not appear they are using image recognition tech like they have with the search by image functionality or like they were attempting to use (with not great results) when previously testing adding a "find similar" button overlaid on listing images.
If you use this "find similar" option in search on an item with a more generic title, you get much more generic results that show the feature is not likely trying to match for visual similarity (or if it is, it's still not returning great results.)
That suggests buyers may be able to easily get pretty much the same results by copying and pasting the title of a listing they are interested in into the search bar themselves.
While this option may be a little faster/more efficient, I'm not sure that it's particularly innovative or will help buyers find relevant items better than just a regular search would.
