Dear Andrea Stairs,
I registered with eBay December 1996. (Before eBay's Stock went Public) I have a real problem with how eBay handles the shipping for eBay Sellers.
The only thing I appreciate is the discount that eBay offers. I truly wish that eBay would not get involved with the shipping quotes to the prospective buyers. In the past, if a buyer wanted to know or have an estimate of shipping to their address they could email the Seller and get a quote. It would then be up to the Seller to use the eBay Discount if he or she so desired. The way it is set up now if a buyer clicks on the shipping and enters their zip code it does not show the discount that the Seller could give if they wanted to pass that along to the Buyer. The amount that the Buyer sees is a much higher amount. Especially with FedEx. Example: If you click on a heavy Snow-Boot and I enter Priority Mail and FedEx Home Delivery in my shipping for my listing and put down the measurements for the box and the weight, and the buyer puts in a zip code that is in Zone 7 say from Idaho. The shipping shows say $39.00 Priority and $41.00 FedEx Home Delivery. If I click on FedEx Shipping and enter Discount I could ship these boots for $16.00. So if the buyer sees the High Shipping they will not purchase the boot. I have lost a sale, and eBay has lost a sale. Also after the Sale, I would wish eBay would not put anything down for shipping. Please let the Seller send them an invoice so the Seller can elect to give or not to give them the discount. Andrea, I know eBay keeps on trying to get everyone to use Free Shipping, but many items cannot be shipped free, and many items cannot be shipped in Flat Rate USPS Boxes. I think FedEx and UPS get a raw deal by eBay as they both give huge discounts
on shipping, but with the present method of eBay's shipping Rules, Shipping Calculator and other Shipping Policies the Seller cannot regulate his or her business.
Yours Truly

“Hello Sellers!
I’m delighted to take on this new seller focus and support role. I’ve been with eBay for fifteen years and what inspires me is the connection and community between sellers and the people working on their behalf. Working at eBay is a joy – plain and simple – and I am thrilled to take on this new dual role.

"Click on following eBay item number and then click on shipping to your zip code and tell me what it says for shipping to your location. It says nothing about a FedEx Discount Leo."
Listings do not announce to the buyer what type of price they are giving. The buyer only sees the name of the service.

Vintage Danner RAIN FOREST Gore-Tex Insulated Boots Women's Size 8 "Made In USA" eBay number: 363284571212
My apologies,
It works on a new re-listing.
How can I get it to work on all my old listings without revising them individually?

glad you got it!!! Ebay really should have the new/edit requirement in the place where you change it.......

Yes, I agree they should have the new/edit requirement where Sellers can easily find it. Perhaps even in the listing page where shipping is entered. I even phoned eBay support and talked to a higher expert in the Phillippines (She Told me She Had Five Years Experience as a eBay Support Tech) and there was nothing that could be done. It was eBay's Policy. All I can say is I thank eBay Sellers like yourself that can help the old and feeble Sellers Out. (I am 79 years young on February 25th, 2021) Thanks again as I forgot to thank you before dhbookds and also nobody's_perfect. Leo.
