GSP is being (replaced) by the new International Shipping Service.

I have used the Global Shipping for years, & I guess I will automatically be enrolled in the International, but I have not been yet, So I can't really comment yet, But with Global I only had one problem, Where I was charged for a lost item, & I was not Very Happy about that!

The part I don't like is you don't get paid until it's delivered! I'm thinking of taking international shipping off for this reason alone.

Just curious why you were charged for the lost item. Did your item make it to the GSP center or was it lost before they received it?

Have you ever used eBay Standard International Delivery? I use it as long as the value is under $100. If value is over $100 I use Pirate Ship because I can purchase insurance beyond $100.

As soon as eBay started the International Shipping program years ago I stopped using Global Shipping Program which was not satisfactory to me. There are some discounts and for some countries eBay collects tarrifs and duties in advance. They have me send the item to a USA clearing house then they (eBay) ships it over seas. My obligation ends when the item reaches the USA clearing house. Mostly easy peasy and it comes with $100 insurance. Most of my items are 16 ounces or less so First Class package to clearing house then they pick whatever service to destination. If my item is over a pound, buyer pays for first class to destination but eBay gives me a Priority label within USA. Don't be afraid of the switch to International Shipping. It is one of the few things that works reasonably well for sellers on eBay.

Rates for eBay International Standard Shipping. There is a 1/2 pound rate and 1 to 2 pounds is the same rate for many countries.
Since duties and customs are not withheld like with GSP the buyer will have to pay when receiving the item as their government determines. Sometimes they are not required to pay.

I don't want to sell anything to Canada because I get ripped off about 25% of the time. They claim that item not received and this one man from Guelph Ontario said that my item was not described properly and it was a thousand dollar gold coin. I showed the coin to several top grading companies and the average grade was MS60. I described it as AU and I didn't deceive him. Ebay took over $1200 from my bank account when he provided a return shipping label. The coin I got back had the same date but it was scrap. Bent scratched etc. I fought with ebay but no help. I have a perfect outstanding relationship with my customers. Never a problem. I sold the coin for $90. to a scrap dealer.

OP is asking/talking about the new EIS program not EISS.

I was using the GSP to sell internationally but when eBay announced the transition to the EIS program I quit selling internationally and opted out of the GSP before they converted me to EIS. There are some glaring issues with the EIS program that need to be addressed before I will ever start selling internationally again. You may want to review the following and take not of some of the constraints. They may or may not impact you depending on what you are selling.
The move also replaces a world class logistic company, Pitney Bowes, with a lesser known entity. As more and more sellers are transitioned to EIS it will be interesting to see how the new sub contractor scales to the challenge. It will also be interesting to see how well eBay stands behind their policies with regards to returns, refunds, INR's, NAD's, chargebacks, etc. If it sounds too good to be true..........
