eBay Freight Forwarded Portland Oregon - Question on Name

The shipping address shows exactly as follows:

I8432 NE Sandy Blvd
PPS CNPPUZBB
Portland OR 97230

It's same as Paypal - the eBay shipping to name shows on the address as something else.  The payment from shows as something else and on the Paypal payment the name on eBay shows as something else.

Which is weird, I know this is a freight forwarder.  This persons account shows registered in 2017, both feedbacks in the past month are from the same seller, some watch company.  My item is a camera system worth $500+

I talked to eBay to ask if they had any issues on account, they said no and that I will be covered under seller protection to freight forwarders.

Any thoughts here on the name differences? I would post the name but I suspect may get removed.

Google the address. Yours comes up as empty box scam.  Ive dealt with many ff and most have been fine but every once in a while they claim non receipt on delivered. You just have to do some investigative work. There are many selective scammers too.   If its already gone and theyre feedback is ok, then you can just wait and see, then confront with that.

The address of

18474 NE Sandy Blvd
Portland, OR 97230
is a warehouse with many different tenants including these two:

Pitney Bowes Presort Services Inc
Mailing & Shipping Services

and

4PX EXPRESS USA INC.

Not sure what you are talking about.

The "empty box scam" reported by one Amazon seller (in your link) is not inherent to a freight forwarder, just like a scammer on ebay isn't reflective of ebay's business. Scammers use ebay and scammers use freight forwarders, Legitimate people use ebay and freight forwarders.

Did you not google or see my message? If you change the I in the address to what it should be which is a 1 meaning 18432 NE Sandy Blvd not I8432 NE Sandy Blvd. There are several scam postings.  Ive sent to many ff and most are find but I feel like there may be selective scamming as Ive definately had some issues.  They may not even be intentional as they may have several people working there or someone abrad claims they didnt order something but noone on this post seems to notice that the 1 in the address is substituted with an I and when you correct it multiple posts come up about chargebacks, etc.

Sure ebay may cover you or it may be fine but it is shady.

There you go, the underlined above. Problem with buyer's address is valid.

Re: eBay Freight Forwarded Portland Oregon - Question on Name

I called eBay and they noticed the I as well, the rep told me if I print shipping label if it gives a validation error then that is a problem but if it lets you go through then its no issue.

Apparently, the shipping label does let me input dimensions/etc. without any issues.

But yeah on the address itself it as a I instead of having the 1

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post the username of the buyer but would love to post it to get feedback from experts.

It is indeed. Trying to validate "I8432" (with a capital I in place of a number 1) will return an error from usps.com ZIP code validation.

That's not to say that everyone using the reshipper in Portland is a scammer, but if the address will not validate, as this one won't, then you do have an out.

I've shipped to that forwarder several times with no issues whatsoever.

Well it does validate somehow when I go to print the label.

I even went to generate shipping label from PayPal and it did validate.

Shipping to a Freight Forwarder is NOT shipping internationally.  You ship to a US address.  You can't block international buyers with a US ship to address.  We have never been able to do that.

Because using a Freight Forwarder in and of itself is NOT usually a problem.  It seems you are spending a lot of time trying to justify not honoring this sale.  That is your choice of course and if you are too uncomfortable with it.  Tell them you are OOS [out of stock], take the hit in your defects and move on.

You've had a lot of information shared with you on this thread.  You need to make your own decision.  Ship or don't ship.

Re: eBay Freight Forwarded Portland Oregon - Question on Name

I just got burned by this exact address. It indeed had an "i" instead of a "1", and I did not catch it until after I mailed the item. Here is the interesting part. The buyer purchased a quantity of 2 of my items totalling $458. I called ebay and asked if I would be protected if there were any issues. They said just as long as it shows delivered to the address then I am fine. Well the package showed up in Portland and then never got scanned again. It has been 1 month and my package is missing and ebay auto refunded the buyer and charged my credit card $458. I knew I should have cancelled the transaction. It felt wrong from the beginning and I even went to this thread and saw that some had successfully delivered to this address. I did not insure and now I am out. Honestly, it is possible that there is someone in the mail sorting room that is in on the scam. I had similar occurrences happen in Opalocka Florida. I had 3 packages vanish when they made it to that hub. Never to be seen again. 3 times in 2 months at the same location was not a coincidence. Anyway. I thought I would share

@caseydc

Your issue wasn't with your buyer or the address in which you sent it to.  Your issue was with the carrier.  Make sure you put the blame where it is due otherwise you can't work the problem properly.

Did you put a trace on the package?  That should have been the first thing you should have done.

Your problem is your CARRIER, NOT the buyer.  So stop blaming the buyer and/or the address when that didn't have anything to do with the problems you had.

I do not agree.  Others have already pointed out that the number 1 replaced with letter i may be some type of scammy workaround.  Is it?  I don't know. Here is what I do know. My package was either lost, stolen, or not properly scanned by the carrier, this is true. It most certainly does not help that I was told to ship to and address that does not even technically exist. In a perfect world a postal worker would see the mistake and hopefully correct the "typo", or said worker/computer could see an invalid address and attempt a reroute and then the package becomes lost.

Most people I'm sure would be suspicious of a new buyer with 4 feedback, buying duplicates of my expensive items, asking to ship to a freight forwarder with a typo in the address, and asking for a $458 full refund after 5 days of USPS scan, telling me the package is lost in the mail.

Wanted to have this info attached to this thread and Oregon address, so other sellers can interpret as they wish. I will post any updates.

Since your tracking doesn't show delivered, that is your problem.  You can't win a case, if filed, on Ebay without it.

Your buyer can't or should not be held responsible for what your carrier did NOT do.

I never assume that a new buyer is a problem.  We need new buyers.  We can't grow and increase sales without them.  We all start somewhere.  I get nervous when anyone buys expensive items.  And to be honest I have more trouble with seasoned Ebayers, especially other sellers, than I new new buyers.

Did you ever put a trace on your packages?

Re: eBay Freight Forwarded Portland Oregon - Question on Name

The freight forwarder would not concern me.

The sudden purchase after three years of silence does hint at a hijacker.

Where does the Feedback Page say the buyer is located? Would that require a freight forwarder?

Why not phone the forwarder for such information as they are willing to give (privacy issues).
