Why not expand the promotion allowing buyers add DIFFERENT items from same seller to their shopping carts and then get the discount at check out?

Think that not always customers want 2-3-4 or more identical items, but may like to buy more items just to get the discount.

Actually our customers have the chance to save ONLY when they buy more than one of the SAME  item to get  volume pricing. 

Vast mayority of listings on eBay  offer single or OOAK "one of a kind" listings and are excluded from the promotion

Think on yourself when walking the aisles of Walmart adding different items to your cart and many times single-ones.

I think you can already do something like that with Promotions Manager (if you have an ebay store).

I'm loving this Volume Pricing option.  It is a new function and has plenty of room for improvement as you have certainly noticed from your remarks.

Early next year Ebay plans to have this program expanded to offer it on Variation Listings.  And sometime thereafter on listings as you suggested.  Listings with single quantities.

Give it time, it will improve.  We will get more options and easier ways of using it.

You can get the same results for singles and multis using Promotions Manager Order Discounts

(And you aren't limited to 4 items like the Volume Pricing tool is)

I sell mostly one-offs with some multi-qty listings ... it's about 70/30 right now.

I have 4 separate qty promotions that cover all of my items.

Buy 2 get 5%

Buy 3 or more get 10%

Buy 6 or more get 15%

Buy 9 or more get 20%

My buyers can mix and match any items in the store and get the discount when they add multiple items to the cart... 2 of these, one of those, one of the other thing and 4 goblets ... no problem ... 20% off deducted automatically in their cart.

PS ... before the "the cart doesn't work" posts that may follow ...  I have never had a problem with the cart. It works for me and my buyers. Combined shipping rules and multi-item discounts work and work well for me. My buyers never have to get a revised invoice or post-sale partial refund for shipping or discounts.

Actually this benefit sellers that offer multiple identical items available in same listing, but it is relative since not always buyers want to buy multiple identical items, but will be motivated if they can pick one over here, another over there, some more over there... and so on, and get the discount offered at check out.
As of today Buyers can get the discount offered ONLY when they buy multiple quantities from the same listing.
I mean to buy different single items from same seller and get the benefit of the discount offered at check-out
