eBay Employees Calling or Texting Trying To Lure Sellers Into Off Site Transactions

It has become apparent that eBay has employees calling and or texting in an attempt to lure sellers to offer an off site transaction. They waste a lot of the sellers time over a matter of days, asking for all kinds of information and shipping quotes etc, then when you make it clear that any transaction will take place through eBay on a Buy It Now, the messages and phone calls end. It is obvious they are spot checking the integrity of sellers. Not a way to endear yourself or services to your loyal sellers! More eBay games!

What evidence do you have that these are eBay employees and not just some random buyers and/or sellers?

Ebay employee's do not call sellers trying to lure them into off ebay transactions. What are you thinking? They are more than likely questionable buyers.

I have engaged two of them and they came back with full on eBay speak, not just a message or two but long threads with all of the answers you would expect from eBay. Quite clear what is happening.

I wonder when they will contact me on any of my accounts?  So far, nothing.  No calls on any eBay ID account.

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean but in the sold listing of yours that i looked at you did have your phone number in the description so of course people may phone you up or text you about the item. I looked at a few of your live listings and did not find a phone number in any of those so maybe the contacts will die down a bit now. Ebay has better things to do then have paid employees sitting around phoning sellers to try to entrap them with something or other.

Especially since, based on recent threads, they can suspend you for any violation without any evidence at all.

This a very serious allegation and without concrete proof, it should not be posted on a public board, much less, here.

I kind of know that eBay may not be a seller's friend, but I just don't believe that eBay would stoop to such a low level to punish a seller.

BTW, this is a posting id used only for buying and posting, and I am NOT an eBay employee or "bot."

Carry on

What's concrete proof.

A  WAPO article?

I think I'll list some blocks of concrete... Nope, not free shipping!

I have NEVER once received a call from eBay to elicit an off site transaction, and in MY experience, every single time I call them I end up on hold for well over 15 mins.  Which leads me to believe that they hardly have time to answer the calls they receive, let alone time to call to try & entice sellers to make a few extra bucks for the fvf's on an off-site transaction.

And just for reference sake... I have over 8000 fb, 500+ live/current listings, 1000+ posts on the boards, and been a member since 2006.  And I am neither a bot nor an eBay employee.

I have card listed on ebay and if one sells in my store here then I take it off of ebay. I could care less what the Wiz of Id in San Jose thinks.
