eBay CSR promoting flasehoods and lying about my dashboard

I recently had an item end on the 30th of March with a winning bidder who did not pay for the item until the 6th of April.  For some stupid reason, the UPI assistant was not showing the case opened until 96 hours post sale.  It would not open earlier than that, I tried.

Anyway, almost four MORE days went by, and finally this joker paid the under 20 dollars and the item was sent out the 7th and then received by today.  I have checked my seller dashboard daily since April 1st, and have seen the same totals for last month for transactions and sales amounts every day since that time April 1..  Now that I have seen the item received, it is not in my April portfolio, either.

I called it in and CRS is telling me that it was tabulated into the March total.  To which I replied:  IMPOSSIBLE.  Payment was not made until 5 days aftr the month ended- the numbers never changed since the first of THIS current month.  Item received today and it's not showing for April, EITHER.

This person just wanted to keep disagreeing and insist it was in the March totals, even though it was not paid for until well after April 1st AND was never added to the amounts that were showing from now goign.

Golly, who's had that happen to them before???

Hi @password9019, I wanted to step in and clarify this. As some members have stated in this thread, a fee is accrued at the time an item sales, not when the buyer pays. Since the item sold on the 30th of March, the fee should show up on that date. You can review your fees here to confirm date the fee was accrued and I encourage you to check this.

I also want to mention that the Unpaid Item Assistant can only open claims after 4, 8, 16, 24, or 32 days after an item sells and payment hasn't been received. You can view and edit your Unpaid Item Assistant settings here. If you'd like the option to open Unpaid Item cases sooner then you'll need to turn off the Unpaid Item Assistant.

eBay's CS reps are known for telling you anything to get off of the phone.

That's why you should come here for answers.

The item FVF and other stats  are entered for the item when it sells, not when it's paid. Since your item sold in March, it's included in March totals, not in April's totals when it was paid.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

I disagree because I have never seen an item enter into the month's stats until the item is *received* or possibly when last scanned just before "out for delivery".

Item was received today- stats haven't changed since the 1st of the month here.

The CSR was correct, the sales total goes up as soon as the item sells---not when it pays.

What bothers me, is that the UPI case was not able to be opened for 96 hours, instead of the 48 post sale hours that it is supposed to be opened by if seller chooses.

I wonder if this person who bought this was able to manipulate his/her way into getting 8 days to pay and avoid the UPI. The whole transaction made absolutely no sense from the get-go. UPI is supposed to close after 6 consecutive Calendar days, far as I know- weekends or holidays don't matter. The case can be opened after 48 hours from the time of purchase, and then close four days from that time (if no payment is yet made).

I had my UPI Assistant turned ON the whole time - it failed me. I don't know why. And I doubt Easter had anything to do with it. Easter is on a Sunday anyway, always is (and it's not a federal holiday, anyway)

Did you check the unpaid item assistant settings? Sounds like it’s set for 96 hours not 48.

I believe the minimum time period before the UPI Assistant can act is affected by how many days you're allowing in your window for combined payment and shipments.

For example (and I'm going by foggy memory here, so someone may need to correct me on this), if you're allowing 3 days for purchases that can be combined, you can't have the UPI Assistant firing up on Day 2 for whatever the first purchase was. (I think in this example, it wouldn't start for 5 days, which would be the result of your 3-day window of purchasing followed by the 2-day minimum for payments due.)

I've never seen that before, EVER. Fern*wood. I've been selling for years and that never happens with my sales, although I am not a "store" owner here either or anything like that.

My dashboard is showing 1 (one) transaction for this month, for an item was paid for on the 6th of April. That payment was not there in my db on the 6th, and nor on the 7th. It only first appeared two days ago the 8th (payment was made an hour following purchase, fyi).

I'm not hearing this, sorry. It's not automatically uploaded as soon as item ends with a buyer's BIN or winning bid. Never has been that way ever, not with my sales.

UPIs can be opened AS SOON as 48 hours after the item sells. It is closed 96 hours after it is opened.  You can set the UPI to be opened later than that. If you allow X amount of days for combined shipping, it will not be opened until after that combined shipping window has closed.

It was checked daily and set to 48 hours.  This buyer may have been an eBay employee (bakersfield to san jose, how far is that?)  Buyer had a Bakersfield shipping address and very low fb- been a eBay account holder for 18 years and on that account, has just a 26 feedback an no trace of a single sale ever made.  Far as I am concerned, that person  SHOULD NOT EVEN  BE HERE.  On ebay.    If you do not log in after 270 consecutive days, your account should be BYE BYE, imo.

I dunno.  It was  weird.  My UPI assistant has always been turned on, and it was never adjusted.  It was always 48 hours.

And here's another thing goin' on lately here on eBay, that i have noticed.  Nobody I added to my blocked buyer/bidder list is any longer showing up in the list, in the days after the  username is added.  That's been goign on over a month now- I know.  I have added a few jokers and yet when I check later on, their ID's are NOT in the list.  It also so happens that when I hit "submit"  (to enter the username and have that accounted added to the blocked list), I get a pop-up telling me that the information I am sending is being sent over an "insecure" network and that "third parties" will be able to view the data submitted.

Now just what in the world is THAT all about???  That never used to pop up before, in years past, on my screen, in utilizing the blocked list.

eBay got some serious 'splainin' to do!  Word.

I don't have the UPI assistant and prefer to analyze each situation as I see it. I seldom open an UPI as if you are patient, buyers usually pay within 7 days or so....I figure, give them a payday week and see what happens...You can always relist if the buyer never pays. Opening a case makes buyers angry and more likely to find fault with the product just so they can rant a negative FB and feel justified. Keep them happy as long as possible!

Angry? Because they were expected to pay? Good grief.

I have the UPI set to 4 days and if they're angry about that then so be it.

Nah, i'm sorry but there's people out there (like me) that seldom have an item to sell that is worth over 20 dollars, and that being the case why should sellers like me wait 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 days to get an amount under 20 dollars? It's just wrong. There should be a cut-off, and items 20 and under is where it ought to be, imo.

I have been telling eBay for quite some time now to stop the nonsense and institute a rule that will rip the money straight out of a buyer's account IMMEDIATELY, if what they bought is 20 or under (excluding shipping).

Why should I waste my time using individual user tools that do not auto-correct anyway, once a listing is uploaded, in selecting instant payment required??? Newsflash: ebay should be doing that for the seller automatically, if items are 20 and under.

If you need anything more than a few minutes to cough up 20 bucks, eBay should be telling you to get lost. For real. I would never make a dime on here, if everybody I sold to wasd like this bad buyer who takes 8 days to pay $13. 18 year-old account with under 30 feedback? That user should have been kicked to the curb a long time ago. Nothing but a distraction and an auction interruption, far as I am concerned.

If you aint got at least 20 in your Paypal, eBay should auto-block any attempt you make to bid or buy. Period.  That rule should have existed from day one, far as I am concerned.
