To make this short:
-Buyer opens a case requesting a refund because the item hasn’t arrived the day that was supposed to arrive.
-I am 100% sure I shipped the correct item to the right address (using eBay tools)
-Apparently, we have 3-5 business days to come into a solution. (What happens after?)
-I really cannot offer a refund because I already sent the item. What if I refund him and he receives the item??
This is the first time I am having an issue like this. Part of me thinks I shouldve invested a bit more into a tracking number but at this point, can’t do much about it.
What are my options at this point?

If buyer does not acknowledge delivery you will need to issue a full refund to avoid ebay stepping in,
refunding buyer and giving you a defect.

Wow, learning the hard way.
So keeping a tracking number will GUARANTEED prevent all this from happening in the future? Can buyers still request a refund even if I have a tracking number, the item still in transit and/or is delayed?

Did you print the shipping label through Ebay? Is there a tracking number? If you have a tracking number - go to USPS.com and enter it and see where the package is and then call Ebay and ask for an extension as the item is still in transit!

Media mail has tracking.......... so if you have the receipt, which you should always keep, you should upload the # into the case.
There is usually a "range of dates on delivery" ( ie 5-11 days)...... if they filed after the first delivery date....you should have til the last one for it to get there. If you can still see it moving, you should enter that info into the case.
That said, as others point out......without the tracking it's a lost cause.......no way to prove buyer receivd it.

If you bought your postagethrough eBay, the tracking number will be on the order details page. Find it, enter it into the case, then call eBay and ask for an extension.
You don't have to pay extra for tracking, it is included in the postage for any label.

You are responsible for delivery of the item. If it's delayed, the buyer can open a case; you can call eBay and request an extension of the resolution date, but after that, if there is no proof of delivery, or if the buyer doesn't close the case, you have to refund.
Where did you buy postage?

This is where guaranteed delivery comes into play. Seller with GD who ship with tracking within their handling time don't have to deal with this stuff, Ebay does, and it does not reflect on the seller, because they did their job correctly.

Since it was a video game and video games do not qualify to be shipped by Media Mail, I wonder if it is being held up somewhere to be opened for inspection and sent on to the buyer with Postage Due? That would slow down the shipping process somewhere along the line.

@mrskega: I would also point out here that if you bought your postage through eBay, the tracking number would have been uploaded to your account automatically, so review your list of sold items (on either your My eBay or Seller Hub page, depending on which you are using) and you should see the number there. Check the tracking to see if it's arrived at its destination already.
For a bit more detail, plug in the tracking number at usps.com (or the website of whichever other carrier you used) and see where it is. What do you find?

Ebay gives the buyer an estimated delivery date.
If they have not recieved the item by that date, they can file an INR to try and get their money back.
If you have tracking that shows the item has been delivered, the case will be closed in your favor.
If tracking show the package is still moving, but running a little late, Ebay might extend the delivery date, giving the package time to get delivered.
Shipping video games by media mail, don't be surprised if your buyer has to pay more for shipping to get their package from the USPS.
