I see this subject has been discussed before.
i sold an expensive item that requires a signature per PayPal rules to be eligible for PayPal seller protection. And also the insurance I plan to buy. I wrote to the buyer and told her I would be sending it with signature confirmation. I eventually heard back that she would be out of town until 12/17, so she can’t sign for it until then. My date I need to ship by is 12/12.
Am I out of the time limit if I print a label on 12/12 and date it for 12/14?
Also, didn’t quite understand what can happen if buyer doesn’t receive the item by the eBay stated time.
Thanks in advance.

Your ship by date is the date on which you need to have a scan by USPS. If the first scan comes after the 12th it's late shipping.
Of course if you don't have any other late shipping marks or just a couple then it's a meaningless ding that has no effect on anything. As an Above Standard seller you are allowed 7% or a minimum of 7 over the previous 12 months.
Simply printing the label doesn't cut it as it once did a number of years ago, the abuse then was out of hand!

Just ship it. If the recipient is unavailable, the item is held awaiting signature for 15 days at their post office.

I guess I will,ship on the 12th.
i hope there is no problem ignoring the buyers request to wait?

Does ship by the 12th mean you can still ship on the 12th?

You can message the buyer, if you care to, and tell her that Ebay requires you to ship within your handling time, but all will be well because the signature confirmation will cause the item to be held at her OP. Your call.
Hopefully you had noted that you would required signature confirmation in your description, so the buyer was aware of it before purchasing. Some don't like to be surprised with this info after the fact, after they have purchased the item.

A Blue has stated that Ebay would back you in honoring a buyer's request to ship late. CS can read the messages between the buyer and you.

OP already stated buyer aware of signature confirmation requirement.

So very sorry you missed this!
From the OP:I wrote to the buyer and told her I would be sending it with signature confirmation.
So yes, I mentioned it because he messaged the buyer. That is why I mentioned putting it in the description, because it can create a bad situation for the seller if the buyer does not appreciate not knowing that signature confirmation will be required before buying.
Surely you have seen this posted numerous times on this Board through the years. Not sure why it is an issue now.

I am so very sorry, and with due respect...I must have read the OPs post differently than you did. No one has made this an issue lolol.

I did not put the signature confirmation in the listing.
i will be sure to do that in the future.

Thank you! I know you would have stated that if you had. So when you said you wrote the buyer, it was apparent what you meant. No worries, that is something that is easy to forget when you are setting up the listing, but it comes to your mind when you actually have to ship it. I understand, and no offense was intended, just a helpful suggestion for you should you need to use signature confirmation in the future.
Just trying to save you from a possible bad situation. Buyer may really get upset after the fact if they learn about the signature confirmation then because it does complicate or delay their receiving the item, and some may just feel they should have known before they bought. I wouldn't want you to get bad feedback because of something like this. That's all and thank you for your understanding.
