Did you mean:

competitor purchased an item from us and is now making false claims...unreal.

Greetings -

Wow never thought I'd see this - but we had a competitor *very active seller* in electronics

buy our item and is now making up a bunch of false claims. What measures does ebay

have in place for this type of nonsense?

We're all for a more transparent market but this seller really took it up a notch on us.

The item we sold was vetted professionally and shipped on time with proper materials.

He first sent us a private email asking for a refund outside of ebay and sent us a ton of

photos of and item we just don't identify with. He's making claims that it doesn't work,

broken but at the same time he's stating that it turns on and and that it turns on and shuts

off for a few minutes - this person is a mess.

I'm shocked.

Thanks for the correction.  I edited that too quickly and just wanted to make sure the item did qualify for the protection---Free Returns, TRS-plus, or TRS with a qualifying return policy.   Don't all TRSplus items qualify?

Yes, but not because they are Plus, but because the seller HAS to be TRS.  It is being TRS with or without any plus listings and as long as the seller has a 30 day or more return policy of any kind.

Yeah, I get that.  I just meant that designation would automatically make the item qualify.   Also free return listings qualify without the seller being a TRS as far as I know.

As does buyer pays shipping.

If the seller is not a TRS they have to have free returns.  I'm not sure what you mean by your above statement.

That doesn't mean anything

While you find this disturbing, it isn't against the rules to have a ship to address be a PO box @ UPS.

Actually mailboxes, whether PO or commercial are the safest addresses for both buyers and sellers.

For buyers the box is out of the rain and held for pickup. No porch pirates.

For sellers, the mailbox was hired by the customer and they either have a key or present ID for pickup.Better than a street box which anybody can open.

While the jerk customer might also be a seller in the same category and may indeed be scamming you in some manner I severely doubt it is any effort to "hurt the competition". Neither one of you is large enough to be more than the smallest blip in the electronics category.  Probably 20,000 sellers in the  category larger than both of you combined. Someone could make a full time job of that and never run out of electronic sellers to "hurt".

Guys sadly a Ebay rep has informed us that the *BUYER who is a seller* has apparently been doing this

and that he has other accounts as well. We spoke to someone in the U.S. We've been informed on next steps to take and we'll be taking proper measures on our end. Ebay appears to be investigating it. They are aware of his activity.

Red flag with the outside of ebay refund.

He could then file a claim in the ebay system amd try to get a second refund.  Or through his payment method.

I think your gut is correct on this one.
