How do I see my customer's cart? Where is it?

When i'm at the supermarket I like to look in other people's cart.

They always have all the "good stuff" that I can't afford.

Not at my supermarket... you can easily spot people who are strugging to buy food. They're the ones who buy the big box of 4 dozen eggs, and several 4 litre bags of milk. Everything is big, and it's all the cheap stuff at the front of the store.

I have a house guest for a few weeks and have had to buy some "real food" and "cook dinner" for the past couple of weeks. I found out the real food doesn't cost much more than the stuff I buy for convenience, however I'm required to cook it all which is an hour or more out of my day to make dinner (well maybe every other day.. we try to have left overs). At least my guest is helping me with the cooking.

I did not know that.

When the buyer requests the total, they've committed to the purchase (so someone can't come along and swoop up their item while they're waiting for the seller's invoice). So technically you're not seeing what's in the cart, you're seeing what they ordered.

I get lots of requests from people to combine shipping for items in their cart. I do my best to help, but with the interface often not working, it creates a frustrating experience. At my job I sit at someone's computer to fix their technical problems, I don't stand over their shoulder and tell them what to do.

Re: cart

It is true, you cannot see their cart, but SO MANY buyers have the expectation that we can & then get upset when we have to tell them we can't see it.  Even though it's for their privacy.

Re: cart

It would be nice if there was a way to let the selling know that some buyer has put an item in their cart.

We don't need to know who.  Something like the watchers' numbers.

Just my Two Cents...

That's funny....when I look at carts in the grocery store (I like to do this as well) I am always astounded by the amount of garbage food that people buy.

Just today the guy in front of me had the "classic combo", one bland looking tomato, one ratty looking onion,  a bag of the cheapest pasta available and a can of pasta sauce plus one jar of peanut butter and a loaf of cheapo white bread.

Judging by his clothing I'd bet he works in some sort of construction job and it was not a discount grocery store (there is one just down the street) so I don't think poverty was the issue.

Re: cart

It's called Pound cake because you're supposed to pound it obviously!!  I learned this by watching the Muppets, I thought it was common knowledge!

People buy tons of garbage because the store is full of it. I can walk down entire isles and not find anything I can eat. Due to healthy eating, so many things are off limits (like packaged cookies, I'll hit the baking aisle, buy ingredients and make some. I will not spend 10 cents on a pack of cookies that were manufactured).

Generally I spend tons of time around produce and deli, zero time in bakery (because I'll do it myself), very little time in meats and seafood (as in, I buy one or two things), and maybe get 5 things out of the grocery aisles, which will be things like olives, canned artichokes, pasta noodles (not sauce, I make that too). I drink diet pepsi which is my one unhealthy vice, otherwise it's all good to eat.

My ex-husband was a great cook, and when we got divorced I realized if I wanted to keep eating on that level I had to learn to cook, so I did. I won't be caught with any processed food that I can make myself from scratch.

Re: cart

@craft-stash ,

If you set up your business policies right your buyers should never have to request a total from seller for combined shipping.

Depending on the item I have several combined shipping policies set up. All buyer has to do is add items to cart and checkout. eBay automatically calculates combined shipping.

The issue with all stores, including dollar stores, is the ever shrinking size of the contents of the package as time elapses. This Pound Cake only weighed 6 or 8 ounces. Is that okay under the truth in labeling laws?

I think it was @sin-n-dex that had a similar funny story about a "pound" coin.    😃

Egypt Denominated 1 Pound silver coin - buyer was mad it didn't weigh one pound. (One pound of silver for $18, yeah right). He sent the coin back for a refund. I really believed I was being scammed, but seems not.

Re: cart

@craft-stash ,

What do you mean smoke screen. The "Request Total" button doesn't work in the App.

If you set up you business policies right and assign the proper policies to your items when you list the buyer whether they use a PC or App will not need to request combined shipping total from seller period.

I have policies set up for items going to Canada, or the rest of the world for example. I have policies for small items, or medium items and etc.

Have you ever looked into how ebay store business policies work?
