That address in Oregon could be a freight forwarder.

Usually Europeans use freight forwarders on the east coast (closer).

Oregon has no state sales tax so freight forwarders in Oregon are becoming popular for buyers outside the USA.

Neither does Delaware, and it's geographically closer to Europe. I believe that was sol.maryl's point.

for all the people that think this is a customs scam its not it says in the message that he wants it for his records.  he did not ask me to change or ad gift to customs.  I AM SHIPPING TO A US ADDRESS. there is no customs involved on my end, he just wants a receipt with my signature in the package and sent to his email. he wants the item to be identified as described. what gets me is if i email him he will have my personal email and signature.

Yes, you're shipping to a USA address, but the buyer is in France, and the document he's asking you for is a receipt that would be used for customs. That's why he wants it, not "for his records".

Are the prices shown in the document he asked for correct? Did you sell him camera film (or a camera and film) for $18, with shipping cost of $9.30, for a total of $27.30?

If that's not accurate, then he is asking you to falsify (and sign!!) a legal document.

I did find this listing which looks like a good possibility -- Best offer, could have been a $18 offer. Was this it?

If the prices are accurate, then it's a reasonable request to provide an accurate receipt with the package. (eBay packing slips are totally useless, I don't know why eBay messed them up.) I would comply, as long as you're not signing a false document.

In that case, I think that his request is reasonable. He's just asking for an accurate receipt.

eBay packing slips used to include this information, but they don't anymore. They don't provide the information that is needed for the package to be able to clear customs, and that's what he's asking for.

Having your email address and signature is OK. You're doing business, it's reasonable for that information to be shared with your buyers. eBay only stopped sharing your email address because they were cracking down on off-eBay transactions (fee avoidance).

Re: buyer in france bought a item buy it not and wants this extra done???

that the item, as far as customs scam has nothing to do with me all info is accurate and what they do after i ship to a us address has nothing to do with me. he just wants a bill of sale with all the correct info nothing false.

he wants my signature which is odd and wants me to direct mail him which is odd. not only will he have my name and address that will be on the parcel. thats fine but he will end up with my email and a copy of my signature. all he needs is my SSN at that point to apply for cards or what not. that is the part that is concerning.

i think a lot of people are not reading it correctly. as its to a US address. he probably buys a lot and then has it all shipped at once by a third party shipper or family member.

he has a lot of feedback so makes me think he's legit but who know maybe his account is hacked. i may just call ebay and see what they think i should do. maybe i will use mickey mouse as my signature lol

Re: buyer in france bought a item buy it not and wants this extra done???

It is likely that what the FF is combing with many purchases and that it will be flagged in someway when it arrives in France (maybe over a $ limit that requires additional scrutiny) and the buyer needs the additional documentation for customs.

I know I had a package over $2000 held up in Japan and the buyer asked for additional documentation so I sent a copy of the invoice (not packing slip) they could show to customs.

Don't forget there are possible language barriers here in how things are asked for.

I would ask the buyer why specifically they need the documentation so you know for your education and future sales. If you do agree to this, I would also politely add that when you have a special request from a seller you should reach out in advance of the sale and let them know to see if they can comply.

I had a buyer want me to use their UPS label, they would arrange the pick up, etc. They asked after. I reluctantly agreed (they had an import license and could expedite through customs). It worked out in the end but I did as above and said that he really needed to reach out before the sale as many sellers would be suspicious.

Yes, you are not exporting the film, your buyer is importing it. He still needs documentation that shows how much the item was purchased for. That's what a receipt is for, after all.

Your signature was on every check that you wrote. It's perfectly normal for business documents to be signed. Receipts are normally signed by the seller, that's standard procedure. You are providing a business document, your responsibility is to make sure the information on the document is correct and accurate.

If you're concerned about it, then make sure that the signature is illegible, and doesn't resemble your usual signature.

Contact outside of ebay ( sending and receiving info via personal emails) could be considered an ebay policy violation. I would not give anyone that or my signature.

There's nothing odd about that at all.

It is perfectly legitimate to ask a business partner to provide a receipt with a signature. That is standard business practice. Period. End of sentence. It is a perfectly legitimate request to ask a supplier to provide a signed receipt.

Nothing odd about that at all. You need to get over this. You're making way too much of this issue.

Re: buyer in france bought a item buy it not and wants this extra done???

Need to get over this LMFAO what's there to get over. all i asked is what people thought of this message. no drama no issue.  you are a drama queen all over the forums. i have been selling on ebay on 2 accounts for over 20 years and never got asked for a signed invoice ever. all you need to do is write there is nothing odd about this at all. and  not repeat you are 100% not smart. you are the only person that thinks this is normal.  yes a receipt is normal but the red flags are popping up!!

1. seller wants me to sent them a pic of the receipt to their email so they can proof it. ODD

2. misspells all over big red flag (maybe someone stole there account) ODD

3. just plain odd, i sell to france often and never got asked this

end of sentence period what a joke. you think repeating yourself over and over in a message makes you feel better.
