below standard penalty

After having an ebay store for 11 years and selling a lot of product, I was put on BELOW STANDARD for having 7returns which I refunded in full which were caused by moving my store to a new address and could not ship for a short period I fully refunded on all 7 items------   7 out of 157 sales and I am being penalized for this .   The BELOW STANDARD penalty forced me to end listing on 134 items which cost me money in lost sales as well as money lost for Ebay.     Now I have to wait a month and request an increase in listings !     Lost time and money !      I FEEL IT IS VERY UNFAIR !

I'm going to be travelling on business next week, so won't be able to ship anything. I'd been concerned about what happens while I am away.

As I only list up to 20 or so  items at a time, I had held off adding any listings this last week or so and was down to 9 items. I did set my 'time away', but seeing some of the buyers you guys run into, wondered if I would still get a red donut, even if my official metrics did not suffer.

In the end I just ended the listings. I'll relist them when I return. Or at least some of them, I have a lot more stuff to get rid off and may list that instead.

You are being a bit too paranoid.  If you have your Time Away setting set correctly, you have no risk to your Service Metrics or Defects on the Seller Dashboard.  FB is another story, negative FB happens when you least expect it.

Why did you end your listings?  There is a setting in Time Away to hide them.

I feel for you right now! I have also been a member over 11+ years. Suffered through slowly building my account while trying to avoid being "blackmailed" by buyers who scammed the system by threatening your rating etc. (always some new buyer scam). Some things never change. I just closed my account even though I have tens of thousands of $$ invested in stock because I'm finished with eBay (My store was just renewed last month. SO, I AM ACTUALLY PAYING TO STOP SELLING ON eBAY AND IT IS WORTH IT!  To put it plainly, they do not care one iota about sellers at all. Below standard.... They do not care why even if you have been a long standing top rated seller. Instead of helping they make it extremly difficult by not alowing you to promote items. Also, put your items on at lower visability and charge you extra if they do sell. Just another way for eBay to make more $$$$$ off of the seller. Kick you instead of helping. Also, as you know ebay advertises 10,000 listings...But did you know after all that work putting items on that after a few months they don't not even have to show the listing?? Have you considered selling somewhere else? Better platforms are out there! I am sure you have rolled with the punches as a seller over the years. Yes it isn't fair!! Good luck in the future! I'm out!

Oh, I forgot eBay does care about some of its sellers: the ones that they own. Case in point COMC and others

Ditto! Every time I call they say "you've been with us for 20 years, thank you for your loyalty". Where's their loyalty? Ive sold 700+ items and for the first time I was put on below standard. I have 6 items, a ball of yarn a Yankee candle. and one was a eBay error but because I didn't notice their error within their 90 day rule "there's nothing they can do to remove their error". So they are charging me an additional 6% in fees for one year!! This is a conflict of interest and unethical in my opinion and it falls on deaf ears when I call to have them correct it. Also, I keep getting a different answer overtime I call Help. I was told in April, then May, and now July is when it will be removed! So frustrating to have had a long and really good business relationship with eBay until recently. Too bad, nothing I can do while they collect nearly 20% in fees for 1 year! Let me repeat, a ball of yarn, candle, and an eBay error and I have to pay $100's of dollars in fines.

This is an OLD thread.  All sellers have to meet certain standards.  If you don't meet those standards, then you can become Below Standard and have to pay those pesky penalty fees.  One error doesn't cause any seller to fall below standard.  It doesn't work that way.
