basic ebay store worth it?

I could only find old posts on this subject. I sell around 2k a month and about 5 items. Is creating a basic ebay store worth it for someone in my position?

The lowest store available is not worth it.   100 listings doesn't make it to mid month.  I'm back to the $ 21.95 store where I can list until I die.

I would probably say NO.  If you have dozens of items and want it to renew over and over again - then a store maybe the way to go.  In my own experience and seeing what ebay does with algorthyms - Ebay wants new items listed every month - so the "good til cancelled" items fall by the wayside further down the pages.  Many people like the idea of putting their items on vacation which I believe comes with the basic store.  In my own experience - the first few months are good if you get sales and then the sales drop off and if you paid for a year subscription - you might find that you only make sales one time a month - near the end when your store subscription fee is due and just enough sales to cover the price.  Ebay likes store sellers - that is a guaranteed income for them monthly (whether or not you sell anything) - not really a cost savings - you are paying for listings (in a lump sum whether you use the full amount or not) - but that is my take on things.

The lowest level Store doesn't get any FVF discount, so it's just the "Free" listings.  For 5 items a month, you're better off just paying for the listings (and  hoping you get some "promotional" free ones).

The next highest store gets FVF discounts.  Looks like you're selling CSA, I think that gets you 9.15% vs. 10%, and 0.85% x $2K = $17 saved, and since it costs more than that a month, it's still not worth it.  In my category, the FVF is discounted to 6.15% for a Store, so if I had $2K in sales a month, it would definitely be worth it.

Financially, the math is simple.

In the case of a starter store, you do not get a reduced final value fee so the only savings you get are the additional free listings. But at 5 items a month, you would not need those.

So whether it is "worth it" comes down to how much you value the other benefits of a store, like Markdown Manager and vacation settings.

For a basic store, aside from the feature benefits for a store it all comes down to what category you sell in and what the difference in fees would be. But you have not provided suficient information for us to help you with that decision.

Don't forget to look at the September fee increases - for some categories, a store subscription will not longer provide a lower FVF over a non-store.

It depends.  I had the standard store ($27.95? month-to-month subscription) but never used 250 free listings a month.  I waited a few months after the starter/basic store option was released and then downgraded.    When I was TRS with the starters store, my fees were sometimes as high as 14%.  When I gave up TRS they dropped to around 11% a month.   Downgraded my store and last month my fees were about 9%.   So yeah, it's been worth it for me even if I have to pay the higher FVF's.   I usually have around 60-75 listing a month.
