I found a top/blouse I like from a ebay seller --size medium no measurements
I asked the seller for armpit to armpit measurements I got a reply
39"---does that sound right?
the seller is 98% the two negatives are for measurements.
should I run?
( I love the top)

39" sounds like the circumference at the armpits not a linear across the chest measurement which is most likely half of that.
Should you run? Depends on how much you like the blouse. Does the seller offer free returns? If so, if it doesn't work out you can return it.

I agree with the other post: This seller is not very good at what she does, so unless she offers free returns I'd walk (not run) away and find a different seller.

Also I would give the seller the pic below, state that this is the measurement you are looking for. Their reaction and how they answer you will determine how the rest of the transaction will go.

People who sell clothes fall into two categories.
1 they measure
2 they DON'T measure.
I stopped selling clothes because NO ONE wants to pay a better money for the extra time it takes to measure.
While I see both sides of the issue here, I'd hope a buyer sees why a seller isn't going to measure clothing. That doesn't mean run, it means you should know what size clothes you wear. I know some clothing makers don't always follow the true sizing of something, but in those situations you are not familiar with the maker, you should be in a store trying it on.

Don't know much about measurements as related to MEN'S clothing, but regarding women's clothing, I can tell you from personal experience that sizes don't mean much in that category.
Depending on the brand, I can wear anything from a 10 to a 14, so knowing what size I wear doesn't mean anything.
And if the seller can't/won't take the time to measure, and the measurement is important, then my suggestion is that you find another seller/listing.
PS: If that 39 inches is really the armpit-to-armpit measurement, then you would be looking at a shirt that is 78 inches all the way around. Sounds more than a medium to me.

None of the measurements make sense to me LOL - I am of the mm, cm, m crowd.
Quick question for the OP, is the seller O/S and what are they measuring in?
I know you put " but is that definitely what the seller put?
Coz 39" if I recall correctly is over 3 feet - that's one he!! of a wide top.

But 39 cm would be 15 inches, which doesn't make sense either.

"People who sell clothes fall into two categories.

I would add:
3. they measure, but badly

Yeah I thought of that, maybe they were measuring arm pit to bottom edge - or maybe they were drinking
I am just throwing out any ridiculous idea's now LOL - 2.50am my time I should go to bed!

There is no shortage of clothing for sale on eBay. I would keep shopping for a better seller.
