accepting returns?

Those of you who accept returns but used to not, what kind of sales increase did you notice after the change?  I currently do not accept returns for many reasons, but if the increase in sales is high enough I might change my mind. Please tell me any ideas advice or things I may not have considered. Thank you for your time.

Do keep in mind that "no returns" does not mean "no refunds".

I guess a lot depends upon your reasons for not taking returns (you said 'many') whether it would be worth it to you or not - you don't seem to be selling in return-heavy categories, though.

accepting returns?

First and foremost, there is no such thing as 'no returns,' it's been that way for years.  You can list it as such as was done 20 years ago, but buyer can and will return it - you may as well get the better price.  Also, even if legit (more and more rare these days), there's risk that that rare honest buyer will see 'no return' as risk, while the savvy swindler knows to ignore that and request item refund anyway.  'Just remember, you will lose.'

Check out the Youtube of an appliance parts guy (I think I've ordered from them).  He advertised no returns as is industry standard for electronic, especially appliance, parts - or you'll just get parts buyers trying different things and returning, until they fix it.  The automated/forced return policy cane in and now the company is jeopardized.

SO MUCH RISK.  At least you have more standardized products, but your risk is as a 'collector,' possibly hearing from other collectors looking to arbitrage or swap.  And they will always win.

accepting returns?

For me personally it gives buyers the assurance that if something goes wrong that I will have there back and allow a return. You can also receive benefits from Ebay by having 30 day returns. I think that there is an advantage over have 30 day return than say no return. Buyers will feel more comfortable with you. Even though there is no stat which shows the difference between returns and no returns I think the though of "Is this item going to work" gets out of the buyers head and knows that if the item doesn't work they can return it. Now as others have stated if the item is "Not as described" then that's a different story. Even with no returns Ebay still forces a return.
