abusive language from a member

I left bad feedback for a member who won two of my auctions and didn't pay for either one. He sent me a message saying cussing me and calling me derogatory names and saying he had left me bad feedback. What can I do about this to report this member and get his comment removed? I haven't seen anything show up yet. Is he even able to leave feedback if he didn't actually buy?

Re: abusive language from a member

First off, you’re not allowed to leave a negative comment with a positive feedback for a buyer.

Normally, I’d say report the buyer, but doing so will only attract attention on your own policy violation so…

You cannot leave false positive feedback for someone.  More than likely your comment will be removed.  If they continue to harass you, block them and ignore them.

Sellers are not permitted to leave buyers anything but positive feedback since 2008 and snarky comments are not allowed either.

You need to be much more subtle when leaving false positive feedback.

That false positive you left can earn you a defect on your seller account.

Don't forget to add this member to your blocked bidders list.

Hopefully the member won't come back and mess with you in the future.   The false positive was unnecessary.

Re: abusive language from a member

And that's why eBay doesn't allow sellers to leave negative feedback.

To put the cherry on top, the only ones who will ever read that false positive , will be your future customers, who will backbutton when they see how you talk to customers.

There is a process for Unpaid Items Claims.

Apparently you did not follow it.

It's even automated so you don't have to do anything.

Now you will pay Final Value Fees (FVF) on the money you didn't get.

And if you do open a UI claim, that false positive feedback may be spotted by the bots and earn you a Defect.

Re: abusive language from a member

Under the circumstance, since your policy violation set the customer off, i would not report the buyer for his subsequent violation, perhaps calling unwanted attention to yours.

To eliminate non-paying buyers, list as fixed-price with Immediate Payment Required. (Best Offer invalidates an IPR setting.) Also set your Buyer Requirements to their strictest levels to block serial non-payers.

Re: abusive language from a member

So you didn't know that sellers are not allowed, under any circumstances, to leave negative feedback for buyers? That includes positive FB with negative wording.

Might be time for you to do a little remedial reading.

Is there a reason you did not simply follow the correct procedure by cancelling, using "buyer didn't pay" as the reason?
