a question about auto-populate in listings

Hello! I've been having trouble with info in my listings changing on me, due to what seems like an auto-populate problem. Recently I've been listing books, and it seems to happen often. I'm relatively new to selling things on eBay, so I'm wondering if I'm overlooking something simple that could help the problem go away.

Here's what happens: I start a new listing for a book. I choose *not* to "Continue with Match"—that is, I don't use a suggested similar listing to assist me—rather, I start from scratch and enter the info for the specific edition of the book I have. But when I go to post the listing, I see that certain details under "Item Specifics" have automatically changed to reflect a different edition of the book, unbeknownst to me. It then takes multiple attempts for me to get the listing to accept the correct info.

For instance, today I listed a book with a publication date of 1982, but when I previewed the post, the date had changed to 1987. Undoing that took a herculean amount of effort—I would enter "1982" into the Publication Year field, then click "Preview," and it would have changed back to "1987." This happened over and over again.

Eventually, through some completely mysterious combination of pressing "Preview" and "Revise" and "List," the correct date stuck, but I never know when or if it will work, or if the system will keep rejecting my info and replacing it with what it seems to have decided is "accurate."

It's also happened in other fields: titles, page count, ISBN, dimensions. It's massively frustrating, as it entails wrestling with the listing form for minutes on end, and a listing that should take about five minutes to post ends up taking more like fifteen. Also, I'm trying to list accurate info for these items, and am concerned about inaccuracies slipping through.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you fix it? Is there some setting I've overlooked or some simple fix? Does it have something to do with my browser? Any thoughts or insights much appreciated.
