Zero Feedback Account Question

Hello, I recently started an auction for an item. I had this item set to BIN for $425 and I was getting no offers despite one selling in an auction for $900. So I switched it to auction and made the starting price $425. I instantly got a bid from a zero feedback account. This was strange to me especially because there was another auction for the same item active and the bid is currently way below my starting bid. Isn't it possible this account could buy the item, pay, receive it, then do a chargeback on their card? Wouldn't I lose the money and nothing would happen to them as it is a 0 feedback account and they could just start a new one and do it all over again?

I think you are making this way too complicated. If you are that worried, cancel the bid and block him.

Zero Feedback Account Question

Thank you this is helpful. But I mean if he initiates a chargeback with his bank, not ebay, will ebay take the money back from me and all that will happen is he will lose his 0 feedback burner account?

All that will happen is you loose the card and money.

Probably nothing will happen to the buyer unless they continue to do it.

A buyer with 10 thousand feedback can do a chargeback just as easy as a no feedback buyer.

Have a great day.

So people can just steal items by buying then chargeback always?

Yes, it happens all the time.

Zero Feedback Account Question

I understand so I am saying a seller/buyer that wants to protect their own account could just make a new one, steal, close it, and repeat. They can use ebay freely and there is no protection against this it seems as there is no penalty for doing so.

@catorchinscards

Since you are uneasy about this possible transaction, you can cancel that persons bid and then block them from bidding anymore.  Note that person can still create another account and bid again.  Since you don't accept returns, you are setting yourself up.  No returns does not mean no refunds.  I would change that policy if I were you, as you are in danger of losing the card and the money as well.  Scammers are everywhere.  Protect yourself with the tools eBay provides for sellers.

Good luck and Happy Selling

Not strange, actually. @12345jamesstamps is referring to the Bid History page of your auction as seen by others, not by you, because you're the seller.

You can see the bidder's full ID, but no one else can. Instead, what we all see is a disguised version of his ID, but if we click on that, it will pop up a 30-day summary of that user's bidding activity (which, in his case, is a lot).

If you want to see what we can see, log out of your selling account, then view your Bid History page for that auction. Click on the bidder's disguised ID (which I see as h***c (0) but you might see something different) and you will get all the info.

As of right now I see him spraying 75 bids across 26 different auctions, so I am also a bit skeptical that you're going to get paid, but he also might not win in the first place, in which case someone else will pay you more. You're in a very competitive field.

Go to your listing and click where it says 1 bid, then under Bidder, click the buyers ID.

Have a great day.

For cards that are authenticated there are supposed to be no returns since ebay inspects and vouches for the item before it reaches the buyer. So in this case if there were any issues it would be on ebay since they inspected and vouched for it. But I think a chargeback can't be stopped.

@catorchinscards

They may have been naru'd (no longer a registered user) which tells me that eBay has a record of this persons bidding and buying behavior and it was deemed unsavory and fraudulent.  Block them regardless and protect yourself.
