Exactly what were the steps you took? Give us a screen shot of where it runs into problems, but remember to black out any buyer account info. This way we can better help you.

Did you try to change the payment method for the refund or is that where the problem is?
Changing how your refunds are funded
- Locate the order in Seller Hub - opens in new window or tab or My eBay - opens in new window or tab:
- For Seller Hub, go to the Orders tab
- For My eBay, go to the Sold tab
- Select Send Refund, or view the Cancellation, Return, or Item Not Received request.
- Select Change how you’re charged.
- Select your preferred payment method and select Save.
The saved payment method will be used for any future charges. If your preferred payment method is unsuccessful, we will recoup the amount from your other on-file payment method.

My Mastercard has been added, everything seems OK.
But this is what I get when I press: Refund now
The main issue is when I press: Refund now it won't go through, although my Mastercard has been added.

This happened to me a few months ago. The Ebay desktop website won't let me refund for some reason BUT I went into the Ebay app to refund the buyer and it went through fine.
So Try the ebay app
If that doesn't work try logging out and back in

I always love the "use another payment option" messages. Like everyone has many to choose from? Especially when it's ebay's system that's at fault, not your payment option.
"If it sold FAST, it was priced too low" - also Reese Palley

Sometimes it's just outdated information, though, like an expired card or one that was replaced and the number updated, but eBay's system didn't automatically update. Sure, the message could be clearer (and should be), but they're not just saying "Pay another way", they're basically saying "Make sure your payment option is working, or else you'll have to find another way" (that's too wordy for a message like that, though).

They do on Ebay. They have their attached checking account or the CC they have on file. Choosing another payment source doesn't necessarily mean another CC.

It is likely that some info you have set up on the Credit card is out of date. The expiration date or something. Go take a very close look. If it seems fine, then just clear the fields completely and re-enter the info. It is important to clear the fields first. See if that helps.
