Your items are waiting in carts ... (but only once a week on the same day) ...

Like clockwork, every Sunday evening we get messages on every account that our items are in carts and we should make the deal or "eyes" are on our items, etc.!  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  If it happened randomly and NOT the same day every week I might think it was realistic ... opposed to just another sales ploy to entice Sellers to lower their price ... lower their price ...lower their price ...lower their price ... lower their price ... lower their price ... lower their price ... lower their price ... lower their price ... lower their price ... lower their price ...

Perhaps that has something to do with the thought that Sunday evenings are the most popular time to be on Ebay buying?  Just a thought.

No thought involved at all ... last year (in case you missed it) eBay published that 65 % of all Auctions end and sell on Sunday.  They keep track of things to be sure.  Here I run a lot of Auctions that end on weekends and a lot Sunday so these messages, as far as I can see, are targeted for our accounts that have most sales occurring on weekends AND when they know we will be on our computers doing eBay business, label printing, etc..  I wish I knew when other people get them AND when most of their sales occur.  That would confirm my theory on the subject.

I don't believe anything on the site is "random" ... like they try to say Promos are ... everything done is a calculated move on their part.  I don't believe these messages are random, they are targeted too ... but like some other posters mentioned, some items on the list are long gone, sold or ended listings ... so they are not even accurate.  Its probably some intern's college project to see if the Sellers who receive those messages respond and increase their sales ...

I would prefer that eBay just message the Buyers and give them the 5% out of their pockets and not bother messaging me ...

I can see that happening very easily.

But that way would cost Ebay more money, whereas you might just take their suggestion to lower your price, so...they like to message you!Smiley Happy

I get extremely annoyed with junk emails about “an item you are interested in “ when all I did was look at the listing, never added to watch list or cart, just looked at in passing.

I agree.

I didn't read the replies so forgive me if I'm repeating anything already said.

@mr_lincoln-there are a lot of sellers here which translates to a lot of e-mail volume. Every seller signed up for these communications receives them on a different day of the week and different time of day so eBay can spread out the load on their servers. You get them on Sunday nights, I get them on Wednesday afternoons, John Doe gets them on Friday mornings. It's nothing more than a weekly update to let you know which items were sitting in peoples' shopping carts at the time the snapshot was taken. The snapshot is usually taken a few days before the e-mail goes out so some of the items may have sold since then.

I like the e-mails because I can see which items garnered interest -and ignoring the items from the e-mail that already sold I can see the ones left that didn't have enough interest for the buyer to complete the purchase. Then I evaluate those listings to see if it makes sense to run a promotion or sale, change the shipping or leave the listing exactly as it is -or if it's an item I want to source more of. You can delete the e-mails if that information isn't helpful with your sourcing, pricing, or other listing practices.

Good night and good luck

Almost ALL of my items have BO on them (the only ones that don't are generally those that are in variation listings). So...if they're really interested, they can make an offer for a lower price any time! I do put my items on sale a lot of times as well (right now I have a 35 percent off sale on some categories). I'm not going to lower the price by 5 percent when they could already make a best offer and I frequently run sales. Sometimes I do run a sale on my variation listings that do increase sales, but I'm never sure if it is in someone's cart before that just waiting to be bought or not.

Sometimes people may place items in their cart, but decide to abandon them.

Or it could be they just haven't got around to finalizing the sale.

One never knows.

@helloandgoodmorning   No problem at all ... every reply is welcome ... I've done the same thing.  As to communication and messages from Home Office, I have them all turned off so any I get are ones I can not turn off so I did NOT sign up to get these, they just show up.

The problem is (and you and others pointed it out) that messages and items referenced are not current ... sure some are but many are not (I checked early on and found this to be true).  In general terms, I am pretty sick and tired of eBay's ongoing price depression agenda.  If they spent as much time trying to drive traffic to their site instead of driving prices down Sellers as a whole (not to mention eBay) would make more profit.

Don't get me wrong, I love selling on the site but I would prefer they just stop some of the worthless message programs ...

@mr_lincoln   You speak true; I'm picking up what you're putting down!  But I didn't say I thought you would lower your price, I said they thought you might lower your price!  Hence the message.

I believe everyone receives this message or a different version of it !! I haven't for awhile but I did. I never lowered my prices and all of those items that were SUPPOSEDLY in CARTS !!! ( SOLD ) AT MY PRICES 😎 BUT not to say lowering a price or two wouldn't hurt just to see if they sell.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with people taking them up on the offer and dropping prices, for myself I would choose not to.  Some Sellers may even raise their prices.

I totally understand, just didn't want you to think that I thought you would capitulate there.  I know better!Smiley Happy  Your reasons didn't surprise me, and I doubt you are alone in having those thoughts.
