Your eBay account is temporarily restricted while we verify your information

New to selling, went through all the initial hoops, then got this email:

______________________

Hello mexwoodstuff,

We regularly review accounts to keep eBay a safe and fair marketplace for our members. As part of our security checks, we sometimes require a seller to contact us so that we can verify their information.

To verify your account, please contact us by clicking on the link below (you may be asked to sign in):
http://ocsnext.ebay.com/ocs/cusr?query=2502&domain=email1505

While we're waiting on your response, we've temporarily placed a selling hold on your account. This hold will prevent you from listing new items. Also, if you had any active listings, we've removed them, and placed them in your Unsold folder. We credited any associated fees to your account.

Once we verify your account information, you'll be able to start selling again right away. You'll also be able to relist items from your Unsold folder by clicking Relist to the right of the listing.

Thank you for helping us to keep eBay a safe and fair marketplace. We appreciate your help in verifying your account as quickly as possible.

————————————

the link takes me to the help page about Selling Limits (which makes no sense since I just started, why take me to a page that tells me how increase my limits?) an has absolutely no other info, no way to contact eBay, or verify my info like the email asks.

the 12 listings had were ended, and completely removed from the website, which I find odd too since they were supposed to be there to be relisted once the suspension was lifted.

I’m lost here, can anybody help?

Just get their CSR number and call, you might get the runaround, but insist on talking to a supervisor if they can't help.

Odd thing is that they already have both my confirmed PayPal account and debit card tied to my selling account to take care of my fees.

they also confirmed my phone number.

I can’t call CSR right now because i’m currently outside the US.

It's like everything else, I used to walk thru airports like waking thru a park, now it's more like walking into a military zone because of a few bad people that ruined it for everyone.

Just had the same thing happen to me this week on a new (2nd) account. Called CS, they asked a bunch of personal questions in order to prove I am the account holder. It was an easy process but a bit annoying. They asked questions which they had verified answers to about info I had never given them, like names of family members and places I've lived at. Weird!

Try reporting it to the Ebay for Business facebook page......just read the rules before you post.  Usually an Ebay employee will reply and try to help you.....  don't know if they work on wkends.

If you can't figure out to call an international number, then do it when you get back home.

Make sure that you have completed your Account profile.

You must have valid shipping and return addresses set up

You must have a valid phone number

You must have a valid payment method on file to pay your fees.

Your PayPal account must be set up to receive payments and linked to your eBay Account.

If your limit is 0 items and 0 dollars after you have set up your account, then contact eBay. Use the "Call Us" link at the bottom of the seller limits page that I linked below.

From outside of the U.S.,,you can use social media to contact eBay

https://Facebook.com/ebay

Use Private Messaging on the social sites. Do not post any personal information on the public page.

If you have an actual limit, you must prove to eBay that you can fulfil your obligations as,a seller before they will raise your limits. You cannot ask for an increase before 90 days.

As a new seller, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the policies and procedures for selling. Start reading here:

https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/index.html

Also ... familiarize yourself with the MBG:

Excellent suggestions! I would recommend, however, since @mexwoodstuff is a seller, the following Facebook and Twitter options might be more effective, since they are geared to eBay sellers:

@pburn

I've dealt with both (as both a buyer and a seller) ... I have found that the regular accounts respond more quickly than the "for business" accounts.

To solve your dilemma, afraid there is no way around it, you will need to reach out to eBay customer service to reinstate your account. If you cannot call then contact them thru social media as other posters suggested.

Some things trigger the eBay probe, such as a new account selling high dollar items or those who wish to list internationally. It is generally a quick and easy fix. It is unusual that your listings are not in the Sold section. Definitely call that to their attention and any other discrepancy. Good luck to you moving forward and hope you have robust sales!

I just wanted to add other reasons for eBay wanting to review a seller's account or ask for documentation.

1) Account registered in the U.S. .... seller not actually in the U.S.

(Where is the seller's inventory? Does the seller actually have inventory on hand? The item location stated in the listing, the actual ship-from and return-to address must be in the same country)

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/item-location-misrepresentation-policy?id=4244

2) Dropshipping

(What agreement does the seller have with their supplier? 3rd party retail arbitrage is not allowed)

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/posting-items/setting-postage-options/drop-shipping?id=4176

3) Digitally Delivered Goods

(Does the seller own the digital content they are selling? Are they an authorized retailer? Do they know the rules? Some digital content is allowed in certain categories other than classified ads, but the seller must be pre-approved)

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/digitally-delivered-goods-policy?id=4...

4) High end or other counterfeit risk merchandise

(Is the seller an authorized dealer of the brand? Do they have receipts for these goods? Basically, the seller must prove the authenticity of the goods)

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/authenticity-disclaimer-policy?id=433...
