YouTube on eBay

Are you all fans of people that make videos for YouTube in regards to what they buy and sell on eBay and how much they paid for it how much they sold it for and then thinking the person who purchased it and this that and another I think it’s kind of hokey but that’s just my opinion what do you think?

Re: YouTube on eBay

YouTube video, an online forum, a blog...whatever....if I can learn about something new to source, or learn about a new tool or technique to streamline my process (shipping, taking photos, whatever)...that's a win for me. So, yes, I watch some of the videos. I don't worry much about whether the Youtuber makes "X" amount with his online business or whatever....a useful tip is a useful tip, and my main concern is did I learn something useful.

Re: YouTube on eBay

Taco rarely knows what he is doing but if you go trash picking you don't have to.

Re: YouTube on eBay

Many times, if not most of the times,

the reason that people create videos like that in YouTube...

Is to make money off of YouTube's advertisers.

For each subscriber that people get to their channel .. for each view...  they get money.

That is, once YT authorizes their channel to be monetized according to YT rules.

Many YT channels get thousands of view per week.

Some get many many thousands of views per month, because they are interesting.

Many of these people, can get paid hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month by YT, based on  how many views they receive.  (because YT puts commercials in these videos from advertisers)

There is a website called The Social Blade.

You can go there, enter the name of any YouTube account, and see how much their profit potential is.

I do believe the biggest and most famous YouTuber..  A 'mister' who uses the name 'beast', He's earning several million dollars a year off of his YouTube views and hits.

Again, many people just have fun on YouTube.

Many give good and adequate instructions on how to eBay properly, how to cook like a good chef, how to fix things, etc.

But a lot of them are just creating content.  Content they hope is fun and interesting enough to get hundreds or thousands of dollars in revenue.

Re: YouTube on eBay

Here is my unvarnished, honest OPINION....

99.9% of the YouTube "creators" are only there for the YouTube/affiliate/course/Patreon money. Period, end of story.

99% of people who watch these videos, are in it for the "bolo".

The ONLY use that is sensible, for those videos, is to learn how to do something, like shipping or how to toggle store settings and such. That's it.

There is ZERO value in the "what sold" videos or the "BUY THIS!" videos. While admittingly, it's neat to see an item that little was paid for, being sold for good money, it's no longer going to be valuable.  The bulk of people who watch these videos to "learn" what to sell, flood the market with these items.

If you went to college and the professor handed you the test AND the answer sheet at the same time, you will "ace" the test but learn nothing. After you graduate, you will lack the critical thinking skills, the problem solving skills, and the creative skills that education was supposed to give you. You didn't get NOR EARN your education and your lack of skills will rear their ugly head and you will be a failure.

Likewise, the people looking for the "answers" from youtube people are failures that haven't discovered what a failure they are, YET.

You also have to bare in mind, that most youtube creators are FAKE. Many also couldn't survive sales wise, if it were not for the sales their audience gives them. There are over a dozen off the top of my head, that would be flipping burgers, were it not for audience purchases.

The BEST thing you can do for yourself, is think for yourself. Keep in mind when a "creator" says "BOLO" or "Buy this!" I generally avoid that particular item. I would NEVER buy it without thoroughly checking comps.

Re: YouTube on eBay

I've watched the lamp girl and I like her personality, but I really can't see how she makes money on eBay since she buys at a pretty high percentage of her selling price. But she may have other venues.
At a guess she has her videos monetized.

My favourite is Curiousity Incorporated out of Edmonton Alberta. He's not an eBay seller, but has an antique shop.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qb4SpyeH5IQ&t=2s

I watched him clear a hoarder house that turned out to belong to a renowned potter - in almost real time. Then he bought the contents of a house that had to be cleared in six weeks- including about fifty years worth of medium high end women's clothing.

Re: YouTube on eBay

He is great. I watch him and Ralli Roots. They are great if you want to sell clothing. But most are sleezy car salesmen trying to get you to buy their program. Buy good items, take good photos & create good listings now give me 99 dollars.

Re: YouTube on eBay

The only time I watch Youtube is to learn how to do certain repairs that are not intuitive (car or appliance repairs, for example).

If I want to watch commercials in my free time, there is always TV.

The Auction Professor is great. Very honest, helpful videos almost every day. He's been both critical of Ebay and complimentary. One suggestion he made has made a big difference in my sales.

I have ZERO interest in  YouTube for those purposes. I may watch DIY projects or music  videos, otherwise I never use YouTube...
