Per eBay message:

  • What are the key benefits?

One place to sell and get paid: manage all your selling and payments needs from within your eBay account.

- Simpler bills: all your fees in one place on your eBay bill.

- Consolidated pricing: all your fees in one place on one bill, plus special pricing for early opt-in*.

Daily payouts: direct to your bank account. No need to transfer funds between accounts.

- New ways for buyers to pay: such as mobile payments with Apple Pay.

- Better protection: claim and chargeback seller protections provided by eBay, with one place to manage disputes.

- More control: accept your exclusive invitation now to get a head start on adapting your business to selling and getting paid on eBay.

****

I would like to have seen something about fees but I guess that will have to wait.

Overall, what I see so far looks good.

List more, sell more. Goodwill that other, uh, stuff.

Feeling sleepy? There's an app for that.

Just a note of interest for all of you who think eBay dropped Paypal.  It was actually the other way around.  Paypal refused to continue their contract with eBay.  They want to branch out to other ecommerce sites, and their contract with eBay prevented that.

What happens if you have multiple bank accounts and use multiple currencies?

What happens if you have multiple Ebay ID's and use multiple sites?

And while I can't be 100% certain it would seem that Carl Icahn forcing the eBay/PayPal split may have played a large factor in that decision. If you're tethered to a ship and see it sinking, I doubt you'd let it take you down with it versus cutting the line while there's still ample time to do it.

I opted in.  I want to know how it works and be able to offer changes before it goes live.  Give them a different perspective from a seller view about the flow.  We also use our own merchant account here at eBay so it is important for us to know things ahead of time.

I want to be ready when the holiday selling season comes along, and not trying to figure anything out at that time like many here will be doing.

I think a version of this is already live?  My last few purchases we have made all showed me a payment setup screen where I would input my CC to make payment.  I also had a tab somewhat hidden that when you click on it gave you other payment options like Paypal.  They are already hiding to buyer the paypal options to use.

No valid payment option should be "hidden" from the buyer.

But this is ebay so it doesn't surprise me in the least.

Hi. I, too, use a 3rd Party AW2K listing/data base vendor since 2001. Should I assume eBay said you had to use Seller Hub, or was it your 3rd party vendor? With my system, it doesn't matter what summary program on ebay I use be it Seller Hub (ugh, no way) or Classic. I use Classic view only.

With all the current glitches going on, I'm not thrilled with this change but there are pros and cons to it.   I am on etsy for another biz I have on there and have never once had a problem with a buyer/chargebacks etc.  I believe there are fraud controls in place with Adyen so I don't think it will open doors to more fraud attemps by buyers but I'm not confident in that because eBay buyers are indeed very different from etsy buyers.

Buyers will be able to continue to check out with paypal but then have the other option to use their credit card/debit card which will be processed through Ayden.  I'd say about 60% of my customers prefer to use their card vs paypal.     I believe, once all these other glitches are fixed, our sales will "increase" with these options.   I am not exactly happy with the fact that funds are not immediately available.  Even if they deposit daily, we then have to wait for our bank to deposit the funds into our account.  I use paypal as my business account and transfer or make withdrawls as I need to.  It's much more convient this way.  Having funds deposited means I will then need to transfer them into my paypal account and with that, more wait time for my funds.  I will simply adapt as I had to with etsy.

Fees, though they have not disclosed, I've checked on the Ayden site and the fees appear to be much lower than paypal and ebay will have negotiated something better.

I opted in to be a guinea pig. I want to see how it all works out through eBay before season and to get used to the new "feature."   I know this is eBay we are talking about but I feel it will be a smooth transition.     Good luck everyone

There will never be a make or break difference.

Any credit card processor that says they have a lower discount, has higher swipe fees.

Any that say debit cards swipe free have a higher discount.

They are all relatively the exact same.

I only see one problem: NOBODY trusts ebay. I'm glad they are trying to get some guinea pigs on board early so the rest of us can see how much the community forums blow up with problems. Not trying to be a naysayer, I truly want to see (but not with my money) how it works out.

I agree. It seems we have all been down this road more than once. I can`t get past the fact that ebay will/ and is, taking more and more control over every transaction. It is worrisome to me just for the fact they seem he---bent on making matters worse for sellers instead of better. Call me a nay-sayer but I can only base my opinion on past experience here. I don`t trust ebay and have no reason to.

I think we will find out the daily transfer will be available the next day.  At least with our merchant account which operates the same way funds are reconciled daily and available the next day in our bank account.

I have no worries about the payment flow going smoothly, in fact it will be much easier for buyers to make payment because Ayden will be an inline processor which means it is live 24/7 without being redirected.

My only concern is if Ayden will be able to handle the volume  (over one billion transactions daily worldwide)?

ADYEN coming to an ebay transaction near you.   Ebay will soon collect all the money and make all the disbursements.  Just like Amazon has done for years.  It used to be Amazon kept your money and disbursed every couple of weeks.  Now you can sign up for daily payments.  May cost you extra to do so.

I'd just be grateful if we could all get the name straight. Smiley Wink

It's Adyen, not Ayden or any number of other misspellings...

What if I dont want money going to my bank account rather than paypal which is much more secure and safer?

Banks have a habit of seizing funds unauthorized and charging interest.

If you have the option to optin to the beta testing then you can ask that question and perhaps even change thinking in this area.  This is what the beta test is all about.

Right now all they are saying is transfer to your bank account.  Paypal is not considered a bank so I do not know how that will be handled?
