And they immediately vanish.  I give, I just want to sell it all and quit.  But I'm getting item specifics removed, swirling circles that never want to stop....

You spilled virtual coffee on the button after Midnight.  (innocent face)  I only had a few crop up, and probable will have more when some GTC's roll over, but my changes stuck.  

For those with the kajillion affected listings, do yourselves  a favor, open the Clipboard and type in Does Not Apply.  ^C and then ^V as needed.

I am also struggling with this and it's driving me insane. One of my listings is asking me to add a recommended item specific that is tagged as "required soon" and yet it's NOT A BUNDLE and it's asking for a Bundle Description and there is no place that even says that for me to say "not a bundle" or "not applicable". I spent the better part of a day yesterday fixing listings that HAD all of the item specifics in there when I listed them. I really love how eBay hasn't addressed this and I really do not feel like waiting on a call back only to talk with someone who has not a clue as to what is going on. I have little time as it is and now I am dealing with this ridiculousness. It makes me wonder if anyone who is actually a buyer can even find these listings.

I have a train ornament listed & they keep asking questions about the theme--it's a train! They asked who it was for, for crying out loud--who the frick cares & does an ornament have to be for a particular person? I actually put "the devil" I was so PO'ed

ebay should stay out of the one shoe fits all in the "selling" business.  Provide assistance and help to some and let the "top raters" free wheel it.  They are the ones driving ebay and ebay would do well to listen to them. watch them, learn from them, and pay attention to them. or ebay will go the way of the dial telephone.
