I sold a customer a Garmin hand-held GPS.
The listing was unequivocal and explicit as to what was included in both words and pictures. It was just the GPS with an attached lanyard.
The buyer left negative feedback because the item did not include a case, charger, and directions.
I asked eBay to remove the negative feedback stating it is unfair to let neg feedback stand based on what a listing DOESN'T include, i.e., I can only sell what I have.
eBay did let the negative feedback remain on my record for my listing not containing what the customer thought it should even though the listing explicitly spelled out what was included.
I've sold over 50 of these. First complaint.
Do any other sellers know that if you can get negative feedback for not including something you don't have in a listing?
Unfortunately, eBay does not publish a list of ancillary items that must be included with the item being sold. This is a great disservice to all sellers as it opens all of us to negative feedback.
I have a LOVE-HATE relationship with eBay. Lately, it's tending more towards hate.

You can add a Response.
The problem is that almost no one will read it. The other problem is that a Response makes the original FB stand out on the page.
And many upset sellers forget that the most effective Responses are calm, professional and factual.
So no vulgarity or name calling.
"Sold as used item w/lanyard Nothing else described or pictured", for example.
FWIW- eBay doesn't use FB to assess member accounts. And most buyers understand FB so poorly that they happily buy from 95% ratings or get upset when a seller with 246,783 positive FB and 500negs has a 100% rating (because: ratios).
Also, BBL the nitwit.

anyone can lie and say what they want.
And yet another reason why feedback is useless.
It's not a fair way to judge a business in this case.
the system is not an accurate way to judge a business, if people can lie.
So, many people don't read the ads anyway.
And nearly every negative feedback I have recieved
was in retaliation because I would not give in
to unreasonable scam type requests.
They should just do away with the current system of feedback.
the only thing they should keep track of is successful sales.
If a seller has 2635 sales over a 5 year period, that's all anyone needs to know.
Mcdonalds used to say on their signs, over a billion burgers sold.
They didn't make the point of advertising how many unsatisfied customers they had.

Well you had fifty happy buyers for these but then you ran into one of "them". It's bound to happen. You may get lucky and get a sympathetic CS rep, convincing them it's not a SNAD thing, the buyer just didn't read the listing. It might take a few tries.
Your reply looks good. It might just have to stand at that. The neg might hurt the feelings but won't really affect your business which is smooth otherwise.
Good luck~

Honestly, I'd try again to get that removed - the buyer was VERY specific in stating expectation of items not included in the listing - it's not even equivocal. IMHO, that neg is factually unwarranted. It may take a few tries, but just on principle I'd try to get rid of it.

The reason we do NOT list what is NOT included is because that would fall under "Search and Browse manipulation" which is a policy violation.

I agree with the buyer. yeah it should have came with a charger, case and directions. I bet the buyer had no idea how to work it without the directions

Then the buyer should have paid more to get the charger, case and instructions. They chose to pay less and not have them included.

That listing could use a lot of improvement.
"NOTE: Does not come with case, charger or directions." How hard is that?
Then you show a picture of a box but then say it does not come with a box.
Also, one might assume anything that comes with a 90 day warranty will include everything.
You have to "idiot proof" you listing. You have to make it clear to a 3 year old what it does and doesn't come with. Use bold letters. Use large font. Make the text bright red.
I'm surprised this is your first complaint.

Good point.

That would mean that if I didn't have a case, charger, and directions (which I didn't) that I would never be able to sell the item, right? I mean, how can you sell something that should come with other items if you don't have the other items (sic)?

You can disregard the opinion in the post you responded to. It's patently false.

Lots of buyers only look at the initial picture and don't read the listing description at all. It has to be in the title what is and isn't included. Smart phones are only as smart as the poeple using them.
God help us all if we encounter that buyer driving down the road unable to read traffic signs.

I hear you...
First off and in all fairness to the OP, the listing referred to here has:
Unit and battery only. No accessories.
Right in the description, also ONLY the GPS is shown in ALL of the pictures.
I'm really not sure how it could be any clearer than that.
