So, I sell an item and it takes two days to get it packaged and shipped.
The buyer doesn't try to contact me but proceeds to leave negative feedback.
Here's the best part. They send a message at 10am. I don't get home from work until after 4 so I go to reply and see the negative strike and the buyer says I didn't message them back.
How can I message back from work? Does your job let you conduct your personal ebay business while on company time? Mine doesn't. So I send a message to both ebay and buyer explaining I'm at work and can't respond within a few minutes. Not a word from either of them.
So does ebay just not help with erroneous feedback anymore?
Could they at least reply? Why are sellers ignored?

eBay probably won't remove that because they don't adjudicate - it's just a 'he said/she said' situation - they have no way of verifying who was where. You can request that eBay remove the feedback: https://www.ebay.com/sellerhelp/feedback but I wouldn't bet on it. But do try it.
Also, please think before you leave replies - you could have turned this to your advantage insofar as your future customers, but have lost the chance by arguing with the buyer.

eBay isn’t going to remove the feedback because it’s not violating feedback policy.
You can ask the buyer if they are willing to revise and if they agree you can send a feedback revision request. But, given the fact that you left a reply pretty much calling the buyer a liar I don’t think that’s going to happen.
The buyer doesn’t have any way of knowing if you’re working or just plain ignoring them.

When did this happen? How long has it been since you filed for a feedback revision? I get it what your saying but some buyers expect sellers to respond right away. Do you get a break or a lunch? Maybe you should try to check in at least once during the day so this does not happen again. Some buyers are just so inpatient. Hope it works out for you.

So when did the buyer get the item? Did he? Sold 10/24

what was your stated handling time on the listing?
It is never a good idea to scold the customer. Even worse to devolve into name-calling. By calling the buyer a liar, you ruined your chance to explain matters (in a professional manner) and perhaps have persuaded them to revise. In addition, the opportunity to explain the neg to future buyers has been squandered.
The impatient buyer was hasty and jumped the gun. Although if you had a 1 day handling time, he may have had a point. But if it was 2+ days, then you could have pointed to the listing to show the buyer that you were operating within the rules, appealing to their better nature to rewrite the feedback.
Negative feedback is a prime opportunity to show off one’s customer service ability. Doing that takes all the steam out of a poor review, and turns it into an asset.

Your statements are conflicting.
It's November 18th, you ship via Priority Flat Rate, should have been delivered two weeks ago.
Is the buyer overly aggressive? Sure but that doesn't change the facts, the order is very late and they did try to contact you.

Also wise this time of seasons to ship daily as orders come in. I switch into that mode Monday.

Yes, because stuff like this always seems to happen more with the holiday run-up as the once-a-year eBayers (who otherwise live 24/7 on Amazon) come here to purchase.

Was your item shipped per ground transportation which is usually how one can ship perfume....perfume contains alcohol so a seller has to ship it by ground transportation?
I would check the tracking on USPS to see what's happening. eBay is a little slow updating items have arrived.
A lot of things could have happened why item has not been delivered yet...October 24th was the sale?
Seems like it is taking longer than usual.
Answering a negative into a positive by finding what's happening to your shipment is the first thing you should have done. Responding to the buyer's feedback...I think 'you jumped the gun'...too soon.
I would have found out where item is and tell buyer what's going on first. And not respond to feedback. You get a chance to change feedback in 30 days...but I think this buyer won't revise it now.

Well, dont much expect the lil' one's be going, "Mommy! I want a 20 year old PC game for Christmas! In a box. New!"
Nope, just can't picture that in my head.
Now I could maybe see Daddy wanting something, of course Daddy then needs be like 45-50 years old which means mommy is a good 15-30 years younger. Of course that's assuming junior didn't come from a prior marriage and now 25 years old playing video games all day. Semantics can be so complex!

Just curious.
Why did you apologize for a "delay" if you shipped it within 2 days?
11-23-2023 09:18 AM
because it took longer than I expected. I try to have items out same day or within 24 hrs.
Also, just saying sorry because i'm being polite, is it wierd or something?

That's not even possible. Who did you send it to at eBay? eBay doesn't have anyone 'read messages' so of course, they would NOT respond (I don't even think it went anywhere??)
