OK, I have worked here at real store since 73 but still, I only work here - but as the in-store joke goes boss talks to me and I 'let' him decide I'm right  .... This time he was mad and left the below as a reply to first neg in years, and told me not to post about this on that account.  So this is an end around.

Guy we know - he's bought and swaps stuff before, we made tons here on the 'E' with his hobbit/lotr crap with no complains - and this time he swaps us all of his 'highlander' stuff for a copy of Dune.  And we tried to confirm everything was 'as told' but this one item - nobody selling it dated it or said 'it has this here' or answering our questions, so maybe our guy didn't know that this poster was a reissue/reprint.  We found out by saying 'no' when it should have been 'yes' to the same question from three members. And since we're made tons on the stuff he swaps us for a book or two, I'm not gonna bug him about this.

Everything the boss said below is true, only thing he left out was that all our listings have "Any question, ask before bidding" in them.

buyer left this - "They listed a poster I purchased as an “Original” and when I received the poster it was clearly a fake, and not an original."

Boss replied with this -

DUDE! You bid 1st then asked if original-WE told you it's consigned & owner said original & we took his word & we really had no idea-We told you other ebay message asked does it say this 'there'-We told him AND you NO. We told you worried then cancel -YOU DIDN'T- So you had every chance to back out- YOU DIDN'T- We think you're mad B/C we wouldn't sell you all the highlander crap as a lot AND you got sniped on the other piece you bid on -- Should have cancel/blocked U after 6th message.

If I had replied it would have been more like -also true.

Before we saw your bid we found out from questions and our answers it was most likely a reprint - but you bid before asking and even after being told likely reprint you still, with days left before it ended, bought instead of cancelling your bid. And now this.

Which if any would you have left.

Did the boss make us look bad or petty or in the wrong?

Thanks

Neither.

I would  have left...

Perhaps references to "the boss" were a metaphor.  😉

Strange comments indeed.

I have a great sense of humor, but I don't find those comments funny (if they were meant to be).

It wasn't even the unmarked bills feedbacks. I was referring to the followup here:

That is so so so wrong.

A better reply would have been.

"We regret you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return it for refund."

Fen know that there are some oddballs in every fandom. Better for the business if the oddball appears to be the customer than the dealer.

The only ones  who read feedback are future customers.

I would not have left either, because the moment I learned it was not original I would have canceled all bids and taken the item down.

Just because the consignor said it was original does not change the fact that it was listed in error.

If I left a reply, it would be "I'm sorry, you are right, we made a mistake".

OP

To everyone - this whole thing just became academic - the person who first  posted this and way typing  what's below, is in the backroom crying her eyes out - everybody here were just told by steve that someone who everybody here has known for decades - myself, darlene and steve since 1965 - died last week. Boss/steve has known for a few days, just didn't know how to tell us - really Darlene as he [Stormy] was her ex. Now steve getting so **bleep** about this make sense. After I post this I'm gonna go hug my bridesmaid and friend of sixty plus years.

Yes, we understand it's he said/we said but what the boss said is what happen, and boss did it before asking my permission - not that he had to, it's his store. And if boss hadn't stepped in it would have ended without a reply.

We don't care about the feedback but it would have been nice if he had called it a reprint, which is turned out to be, but still don't care.

Guy never asked for the $10 back, just kept.

Tube still had the theater and movie name and the our guy - really a long time friend - got it from said theater when he worked there.

Buyer bid 20 minutes after it went up and asked question ten minutes later. Sorry, but to us that means he bid by photo and never read anything.

He was TOLD - with nine plus days left on auction -  IT WAS MOST LIKELY A REPRINT BASED ON OTHER BUYER QUESTIONS AND OUR ANSWERS to same and he could cancel - HE DIDN'T.

He wanted to buy all the stuff - first time listing all - for pennies on the dollar, and we said no, and he kept begging - 'you're never sell that for that price' - 'I'm your only chance to sell it all' - 'you'll be stuck with that stuff forever'  We don't care, first time up, no discounts.

After us telling him about the poster, two days later he bids on one of the other highlander listings and someone sniped? it and he really did blamed us - 'you had you friend, blah, blah, blah'

SENT 17 messages.

And the boss 'duded' him because he kept 'dude-ing' us - even after getting replied signed Darlene and Wendy and Yvette and little 'notes' of 'we're all ladies here, no dudes.'

First time staring with dude, it's habit, after being asked to stop and he didn't, it's on purpose and the boss may be an old school hippie but I've seen him go 'brooklyn' and he don't like anybody dissing 'us ladies' Let's just say buyer should be happy he didn't do that to his face - boss jumped the gunman trying to rob the place. So once he started reading the messages he wasn't listening to anybody.

And I just got a call from the boss - he checked everything still here - and now we have to eat some crow-

NEW INFO --- now it seems that the original got put back in the wrong tube - not by us as we checked the pieces one by one, so never had two posters out of the tubes at same time. A reprint bought as such at a show is what he got as the one here - which at the time we thought was the un-sellable reprint so not listed, it the original as it has the 'printed in usa' in the place other members said the 'real' one had.

So our friend was telling true but he mixed up those two posters - no seller's mentioned any ID marks or that 'printed in usa' bit - if two seller had the mentioned the 'printed' we would know 1, 2, 3. We know of no other way to 'find out' about the print bit then ebay. Tried to find on goog

Sorry to hear your friend passed.

I stand by my earlier advice: the auction should have been cancelled and the buyer drama doesn't belong in the FB reply.

I'll add that it's important to verify your merchandise before listing. In this situation there was a swap of the original and reprint tubes. On another one of your postings you took a buyer's word that a camping stove was new even though it was used. Stop relying exclusively on what your clients tell you. You guys have to button up that research.

Your photos didn't even show the full poster so prospective buyers couldn't check any details for themselves. Two photos is not enough.

Selling online is not the same as selling in your B&M shop. People can't inspect the items in person. You have to be their eyes and ears with excellent photos and descriptions. With all sincerity, I suggest working on those areas. If you need help just ask - people here are very generous with their advice.

Ok, below are the instructions from eBay’s Help page on how to refund a buyer:

“Issuing a refund

You can issue full or partial refunds for items in Seller Hub or My eBay up to 90 days after the original transaction. Here's how:

  1. Locate the order in Seller Hub - opens in new window or tab or My eBay Sold - opens in new window or tab.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select Send refund.
  3. Choose a reason for the refund.
  4. Specify a refund amount for the item or for the order.
  5. Enter the desired refund amount, and select Send refund.

You'll get an email confirming that the refund has been initiated, and another email once the refund is complete. The refunded amount will appear in your order details. You can refund up to 100% of the transaction.”

OP's other post @fashunu4eeuh - isn't the refund handled automatically by eBay when EISD returns the item to the seller because it can't be shipped overseas?

Go to the My eBay page-> top right of home page-> drop down menu

Go to -> Selling

Go to->Listings over to the right

Go to-> Active - right column

Go to-> All Formats-> dropdown ->Fixed Price-> Search

Choose the box at the top of the left hand column.

This will put a check mark in every box below it.

Go to-> Actions to the right-> dropdown menu

Go to->End listings.

DON'T PANIC copy.jpeg

The listings will go to Unsold and stay there for 60 days or more.

Is there anything left in the Store?

Repeat with Auctions (same dropdown as Fixed Price) and close all the Auctions that do NOT have bids.

Now you only have to deal with the few listings that do have bidders.

It was not fair to leave you in charge of eBay (and the shop) while everyone else left.

PYA.

When someone who does know what they are doing returns, they can retrieve all the Close listings with a click.

Hi, @wastingtime101 thank you for the link.

You ask a good question, one i do not have the answer to.

Wonder why the person in charge didn’t take a laptop or iPad with them, and deal with these matters remotely, as opposed to giving responsibility to someone who is not well versed in eBay. Could be grief can interfere with decision-making.

Tagging @sapphire_studio because I know she has been through this and can answer:

Sapphire, when EISD returned a package to you because they couldn't forward it overseas, how was the refund handled? Did you have to take care of it or did eBay handle it?
