Selling on Ebay is barely worth doing any longer with the increased fees, and I just got a very rude email demanding more info be verified including uploading ID. Am not doing it.
I still want to buy on the site, but want to disconnect my bank from the seller side - what is the process for withdrawing bank-linkage from Ebay? I seem to remember their being some place I needed to send a written request.

So after doing some research, it appears that Ebay has assumed the "Hotel California" business model, so will be revoking/blocking from my bank's side, and getting a new Checking account number. They would do well to rethink this kind of thing. Paypal had a big Class Action case against them after getting uppity - demanding documents and such. The short answer, is you don't send any documents to any company that doesn't have a phone number to call - FULL STOP.

It appears you have sold recently (last items as of 9/4). E-Bay will not let you "disconnect" your bank account as you might have returns, chargebacks, etc.
Not certain of the timeline, but it will be a while before they will allow you to not have the bank account connected due to the recent sales.

According to my bank (who I just spoke to), they are completely able to do a permanent ACH hold against Ebay - and since I have already got positive feedback on both of my most recent sales, it seems doubtful, any sort of actions would even be needed. The big issue is that even if I don't sell anything for years, the fact they have all the info permanently on file, means anyone can hack them - and have everything they need to do a bank draft against me. Having to hazard this type of thing, when I have nothing to gain, clearly violates "due consideration" laws, and the fact that Managed Payments clearly stated during rollout that authorization could be revoked by letter - and that they do not in fact honor that, is FRAUD. We all have to put up with some of this &*$# these days, but not allowing people to exit and agreement, is indefensible - We are not serfs or slaves, and Ebay treating us as such is very precarious for their future business.

What Ebay fees have increased for you? Keep in mind you are no longer paying PayPal separately for their percentage of 2.9%.
Yes your bank can do that, ebay would then suspend your account and hold your funds. In about six months or so they will send the funds to your state in the uncollected / unclaimed funds department. You can then file the paperwork with your state to retrieve that money.
Or if when you do that with your bank, you owe money to Ebay, Ebay would then send you to collections for payment which will affect your credit rating.
Oh I can't tell you how many times over the years that I've had positive feedback from a buyer and then a claim filed at a later date.
Ebay is over 26 years old. While all internet sites are always at risk for hacking, Ebay isn't new to protecting our information. Besides once Ebay allows you to actually close your account [because this is a process], they remove that personal data from your account info. So it isn't the problem you think it is.
What is a "due consideration" law? Link please.
Likely the Federal Laws that require Ebay to collect this information will override whatever it says.
"the fact that Managed Payments clearly stated during rollout that authorization could be revoked by letter" What does this mean please? Who had the ability to do this?
MP is pretty simple, if we don't give them the info they need, we can't sell on Ebay, period. There is no in between spot.

"We are not serfs or slaves, and Ebay treating us as such is very precarious for their future business."
You don't have to be a slave to eBay. You didn't sell your soul to eBay in order to be allowed to sell things on eBay.
You could set up shop for yourself and be your own boss. You could start your own website. Ain't nobody stopping you.
As for eBay's future business being precarious -- I am torn between ROFLMAO or yawning. There have been people saying that since eBay first started.

I would imagine the OP would have to wait at least 180 days, due to the chance of CC chargebacks and PayPal claims.

Please provide us with a link to this particular class action case against PayPal "getting uppity".

So it is your opinion that Ebay should just disregard the Federal Laws that require them to Verify all seller's identity. The Law has a specific format in which Marketplaces have to follow.

Agree. Could not find it stated anywhere.

When you submit a request to close your account, we’ll send an email to your registered email address and to your eBay Messages within 24 hours letting you know we’ve received it. Generally, it takes 30 days to close an account from the date we receive a request. However, if you’ve bought or sold items in the 30 days prior to submitting your request, we’ll keep your account open for 60 days from receiving your request so any outstanding sales or purchases can be completed and so we can meet our commitments to all buyers and sellers under the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
After the 30-day or 60-day period (depending on whether you’ve bought or sold in the past 30 days) your account will be permanently closed and your data will be deleted. If you change your mind and decide to keep your account, you have 7 days from the account closure to request that your account be reopened. We can reopen your account only if it was in good standing when you closed it.
For security reasons, you can’t transfer or sell your eBay account to a new owner. However, you can add a secondary contact to your account.

I received that same email in July and that is the first time I have ever had to provide a photo id to them to sell on here. I opened the store in 2016. I provided the photo id, retyped all my info on here and haven't had any issues. Nothing rude about the request or the email. It's just the way business is done now on marketplaces.
Put it in writing to them that you want to unlink the accounts. You will probably have a delay in them doing so but it never hurts to put things in writing.
Good luck to you!

Actually it’s 60 days to close account according to policy.
Apparently the OP is yet another seller who failed to read policies on registering as a seller and what is required.
