I've heard of many small sellers getting big penalties for very minimum errors, such as an accidental relist.
Layely ive been searching motorcycle parts and they are FLOODED with the same sellers just changing the words around.
This picture below is an example. It's a bearing that is a generic fit for all makes and models, and the buyer just changes the title and says it fits different bikes! Is this really an easy way around duplicate listings? I've reported in the past and nothing happens! Makes searching for stuff VERY, VERY DIFFICULT!

You identified a big problem on Ebay that is turning off buyers, myself included.
When I search and I find sellers like this flooding categories, I stop searching and I don't buy.
The Chinese especially are completely out of control, literally scamming the categories and putting US sellers out of business.
there are categories with pages filled with breaking-rules listings by these search scamming sellers.

@themagicmountain wrote:It is not up to buyers to deal with rule-breaking by sellers like this. and most buyers have no idea how to screen out sellers. It is hard for most to understand. and hard to do for people not experienced in searches
the only thing that needs to be done is to crack down on sellers like this who are breaking the rules, flooding categories to put other people out of busineass, and also chasing away buyers.
The Chinese are doing this all over ebay.
The examples provided by the OP are not rule breaking sellers. They are within the guidelines for active listings.
Good Luck Selling!

eBay does not consider this a big problem. They see a lot more data than we could ever imagine. Our version of big is not the same as the venues. When eBay sees the scales tipping toward less revenue they will make a change. It really is that simply. A larger majority of sellers are benefiting and eBay is creating revenue at a higher rate so everything is as it sould be until this changes.
Good Luck Selling!

I call baloney.
Ebay has no way to measure sales that "didn't happen".

I'm not an attorney, but I'm pretty sure that legally you can say anything, even in print, if it's true without having legal repercussions. It's only libelous if the statement is untrue. Thanks

Wow. I actually reported a used appliance store for flooding Craigslist. They had over 2,000+ keywords in every description that had to do with engines and bikes and playhouses....I was so annoyed i wrote them a bad Yelp review... 1 week later I received a certified letter from an attorney asking to remove the Yelp review or I would be taken to court for 'defamation'!!!! Of course I took it down, but would love legal advice on that because I would LOVE to Pit that review back up...
When I called, the lady answered and the first thing she said was, "are you calling about our Craigslist ads"... WOW!!!!
But it's not defamation if what you said was true. If you had proof of what you said was true then they would lose the case. They would be wasting money taking you to court.

yelp would never even exist if people could get sued. that's what the site is called, YELP! put the review back up. I guarantee you that letter did not come from an attorney. anyone can type up a letter and it costs money to have an attorney type a letter.
My thoughts exactly and it's against the law to impersonate a lawyer. If you have a copy of it I'd say just for the heck of it Google the lawyers name and email them asking if they contact you. If they do say yes just reply "just checking" or something like that but I doubt they would say yes. They would most likely be very interested in whoever was impersonating them. If you find out they are not impersonating a real lawyer and just made up a name then again you've caught them lying.

You will be scolded here with directions to block the seller lol, but of course most ebay buyers have no idea how to do that and won't figure it out. It is not easy to figure out.
What will happen is that the buyers will either leave Ebay and go somewhere else, and never see the smaller sellers who are forced to follow the rules and thus get ruined. Or only one or two sellers will wipe out everyone else through breaking the rules with impunity.
Smaller sellers get punished readily for duplicates. You can report these larger/ often Chinese sellers all day, and their listings will still be there clogging up entire categories.

As a buyer only, and quite a prolific one at that, I can tell you with confidence that this is EXACTLY what happens. This is why I now have over 100 bookmarked sites all over the world for all the classic German auto parts I used to buy only on eBay.
The pages of irrelevant overseas items are just too overwhelming. As to the smaller sellers who have the exact obscure Porsche or Mercedes part I am looking for- sometimes I find on eBay through Google what eBay refuses to show me.
The other interesting thing about all these bookmarked sites is that there's only one site out of all of them that seems to have payment glitches, cart glitches, and twice as many clicks to get the job done as anyplace else. This is absolutely the only site anywhere worldwide, large or small, on which one still needs to clear cookies and cache to shop- as if the last 20 years never happened.
Can you guess the name of this site?
