Why is there no negative option on feedback for buyers?

Good morning.   I am sure it has been explained multiple times but why it is possible to put negative feedback  when you are the one receiving the item but none if you are the one selling the item?   Seems like it is an incentive for shady people.  I have even seen people leave no choice but leave positive feedback with negative explanations.

Yes it does, doesn't it.  What happens on sites like Ebay is that sometimes sellers have a difficult time separating how misbehaving buyers make them feel personally with considering they are actually running a small business.  There are NO personal transactions on Ebay, no matter the size of the seller.  Everything is a business transaction.

I understand and respect why it can be hard to separate your personal feeling out of things or how certain actions by a buyer can make you feel, even hurt your feelings.  But they don't know you.  They likely don't care about you at all.  And that isn't a personal attack either.  The simple fact is they don't know you.  They came here, purchased something and most expect to receive what they felt they ordered.

In this particular case this OP has brought up there were mistakes made on both sides of this transaction.  Both the seller and the buyer made mistakes.

Some places have names and pictures posted at the cash register of people who have written bad checks, and for the checkout clerk to refuse to take checks from.  I've seen some of those.  But nothing in the front window.

Interesting!  I haven't heard of that for decades.  Ever since businesses were sued by ended up paying out big bucks for posting such names and photographs of such people.  While I'm sure that clerks can and are furnished with lists of people not to accept checks from in payment, to post images of and their names where visible to the public has been, I believe, deemed by the courts to be holding such persons up to ridicule.  Frankly, I'd also be concerned about who was within earshot when a clerk refused to accept a check, if I were the business owner.  Too often, a clerk or cashier isn't the most tactful and this is something better off handled by management personnel.

I sold an item very expensive too, and the advert clearly stated "I will not sell to people who have multiple negative feedbacks".

Someone bid totally ignoring my selling conditions.

I gave them a chance to communicate at least and see if they're legit, and asked for their name. They refused to give anything other than first name despite such a big sale which instantly rang alarm bells, and then they made up some story, left me negative feedback and accused the item of having dead pixels when it's literally good as new for 1 third of the price. The buyer was just angry that I would not sell to him when he wouldn't provide name and had other negative feedbacks. I asked Ebay to which they said, have no worry we will sort this for you, but also make a request yourself to remove the feedback too.

Ebay then responded with, "The buyer did nothing wrong and is entitled to leave you a negative feedback".

In this respect people can now watch that buyers account, win bids on anything he ever sells, and then leave negative feedback just because they can. Reason or truth no longer matter on Ebay. If you want to ruin someone's account, simply bid on something and then you have access to leave them negative feedback. Hell you can just make up the worst story imaginable too just to really ruin them and Ebay will say, "Sorry but they are entitled to their opinion". lol

Ebay charges ridiculous amounts on fee's anyway, so I'm done with Ebay for good now 🙂 Facebook market is much better in any location. I'll be deleting ebay later and never looking back. London is Filled to the brim with illegal migrants using fake accounts on Ebay.

Since eBay's rules forbid any seller leaving negative FB for an buyer, not sure how a buyer could have ANY negative feedbacks.

And, furthermore, if a seller posts negative remarks as positive FB for any buyer, that's a rule breaker also.

Although you are apparently done with eBay, just wanted to point that out to you.

A member left me a helpful for this, and I didn't recognize the title in my Notifications, so I came to see what it is.  That's why I came here.  As long as I'm here, I'll update my above reply.  The link doesn't point to the same place that it did when I pasted it in, so don't bother clicking it.
