I've been full-time on eBay for 20 years and it still bewilders me that eBay doesn't at least require the buyer to send a message before they trash a seller's feedback.
Of the sellers I know, ALL of them will fix whatever problem you have if you just send them a message. It seems highly counterproductive for eBay not to require this one simple step in the feedback process.
So eBay, why don't you require at least 1 message before a negative can be left? I REALLY want to know.

Oh come on, are you telling me you wouldn't love to see all the drop sellers that don't reply to messages not get booted. These are the guys driving customers away from eBay in droves.
Look I don't need another metric on the feedback but I really don't see the problem asking the buyer to message the seller 1st. No reply then fine leave a negative but give the seller a chance to prove you right and all sellers suck or prove you wrong by fixing it and in turn improve eBays reputation.

If it is on this account, you have no negative showing. You are a TRS eBay most likely removed it.

I hate to break this to you, but some buyers would rather leave you a negative feedback than have their issue resolved.

I don't think it would make a difference really.
99% of all my neg. feedbacks were lies, and they
were retaliation for not giving in to feedback extortion
or scam attempts, ie. ship to a non-registered address.
Legit buyers that have a legit problem, have always
contacted me anyway when they had a problem,
and I have always worked it out, via partial refund or
return when I goofed up an auction.
Most problems on ebay I have found are with
shady buyers and shady sellers.
If people would just be honest we wouldn't have most
of the problems we have on ebay. And that's the facts.

Sorry if this is your experience with a seller. I cant say I've ever gotten a reply like that.

See message 17 and check your feedback

No it's my other store. 100% perfect until yesterday and it's also TRS with thousands of sales. The guy got it on the 2nd and left me a negative on the 4th. No 7 day waiting period, no message, nothing.
So are you saying that if I call eBay and request it removed they will because the seller didn't wait 7 days. If they left them to leave the feedback it seems to me they will not fix it.
Can we get eBay to chime in on this? Who is the eBay moderator on this forum?

Dammit, sorry to get your hopes up. I was of the understanding that a TRS seller could not receive Neg FB for 7 days, time to give the buyer a chance to calm down, and YES they should contact the seller first IMO.
The eBay team members are called bryan and tyler I think if you want to tag them

Sorry, I rarely get on this board. How do I tag an eBay team member?

What is it you expect the Community Team members to do about this issue? They are available to provide general information or clarification concerning eBay policies and/or procedures, not to "chime in" on whatever topic you bring up or discuss or debate whatever suggestions you have concerning the existing feedback process.
If you go back and read Message #10, you'll see that member posted, "(This is a benefit for Top Rated Sellers, or Power Sellers, sorry, I cannot recall or find which circumstances it applies to.) "
The person who posted that comment was referring to a seven-day waiting period that applies to POWER SELLERS only. That same waiting period does not apply to TRS. Your buyer did not have to wait seven days to leave you that negative comment. You cannot get the negative comment removed on that basis.

It's seven days from purchase not from delivery. Did someone imply it was seven days from delivery?

Just a thought, is feedback as important as it used to be? I have 100% and strive to keep it. I sell about 25 to 30 items a month and only get about 7 or 8 feedbacks a month. It doesn't seem as if buyers are all into that anymore.

Obviously to make it easier for the buyer to leave feedback, come what may. Some buyers are going to have ebay auto-grab your money anyway, they don't need your assistance. These buyers will eventually get outed by ebay, but that doesn't do you any good today.
ironically ebay won't revise a feedback for you unless you ask the buyer to revise it first, LOL, even if you have already asked, and already had a half dozen conversations with the buyer in the last two weeks, where the buyer is calling you names, a thief, counterfeiter and an idiot, which has zero affect on ebay's assessment of the situation unless you say those things in return, then ebay sides with the seller because you were "rude" LOL
Do as I do, file a feedback removal request with feedback, put your eBay account on "time away" until they resolve it, have some fun watch ebay auctions, and work on your shopify account.

Just my opinion, but I think it's just fine the way it is. It's the way it's always been...and the last thing we need on ebay is ANOTHER change.😟
Someone mentioned that there are buyers who don't really want their problem solved, all they want to do is complain because it's in their nature to do so and makes them feel better. No business completely avoids the occasional disgruntled customer.
